Archer Just Fishin Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Was told by a good friend of mine that P-Line is an amazing co-polymer line and out performs Seguar on all levels. Any insight into weather or not this line is what he says it is? It is so inexpensive that it makes me nervous. Anyone, Anyone? Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 I used it and it was alright, I liked it I geuss but I haven't tried many co-polys so im alittle biased Quote
BigBassBarry Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I use 15 lb test cxx, it is strong stuff. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 I've used it this summer, but I'm going back to Yo-Zuri. YZ seems to have a little less memory and less susceptible to kinks which are the real drawback to hybrid, IMHO....get a crease in it and its toast. PLine seems to 'crease' more frequently on me. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 P-Line is worth a try. The line is extremely strong and highly resistant to abrasion. The knock is memory, especially in the bigger diameters. For the price you have nothing to lose. If you don't like P-Line try Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Izorline. Quote
DTack Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 P-line makes a lot of different co-polymers, or monos I call em all mono. The two most popular (I think) are CXX and CX. CXX is thick stuff, it's strong and has a lot of memory. CX is still strong, has a little lower memory, little thinner (still not thin per lb test at all) and little less strong. I used it for years and really haven't had any problems. I did end up switching to Maxima and it is insane as far as abrasion resistance and overall strength. They both stretch but I don't mind it too much, if it bothers me a lot I will just pre-stretch it. Overall I say any of the p-line mono are good for a baitcaster. If you wanna throw it on a spinning reel make sure it's cx and it's not over 8 lb test. I wouldn't personally recommend the fluoroclear however. Hope you enjoy it and catch some big ones! Quote
CarolinaBoy4Life Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I have swithched over to using just P-Line CXX and CX. Using 12lbs on most of my baitcasters. Use 20lbs for my swimbait setup. No issues to this point. Enjoy the line. But I do spray all my reels with real magic to help with memory. I do this probably once a week. Just preference and it seem's to help with memory! Quote
Super User deep Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 What copoly does Seaguar sell? No contest between a decent FC and any copoly as far as sensitivity is concerned. PLine makes at least 5 different kinds of copolys. The couple that DTack mentioned, plus the C21 (no idea), the floroclear (immensely stretchy, might as well fish with a rubberband), the PF original (best of the bunch for me- different characteristics appeal to different folks). What are you looking for in the line? Strength, abrasion resistance, knot strength, low stretch? 2 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 I remember when Pline was considered high! It is very good line, as is hybrid, you just have to learn the lines characteristics. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 I think you're gonna have to be a little more specific here.... I use both Seaguar and P-Line products. What is it you're looking for the line to be? Quote

What are you looking for in the line? Strength, abrasion resistance, knot strength, low stretch? PF is just mono IIRC. I have used like all the "best" copolys out there. Now I just use primarily CXX on most of my setups. It has the least stretch of like any line I have used that is not braid. It is also the most sensitive because of how dense it is. Not to mention it might be one of the strongest lines available. Memory could be a issue but every line develops some kind of memory. Get your self some KVD line and lure and its no problem. Everyone should have a bottle of that regardless of what line they use. It is a total game changer. The first time you make a cast after using it you will be like wow. Quote
Super User deep Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 PF is just mono IIRC. Sorry, but I don't think that's correct. **When P-Line Original was first introduced to anglers in the United States, a new era in copolymer line technology emerged. With its small diameter and a soft supple finish P-Line Original line became an instant hit with both saltwater and freshwater fishermen, who for the first time were realizing the advantages a high quality copolymer line delivers.** http://p-line.com/line/copolymer/pf-original Quote
RB 77 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 P Line is good stuff. I've used the CXX and the Flouro Clear for years. The CXX is super strong, but does have quite a bit of memory. I have transition to Izorline because of this. I love Flouro Clear. It is the exact opposite of CXX. Very thin diameter for the test rating with very little memory. I use Flouro Clear for small diameter spining duties, and Izorline First String or XXX for heavy duty applications. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 Used Floroclear for years before switching to Halo. Now I use Powerpro with a Halo leader. Quote

I always thought original was mono. I think even TW lists it as being a mono. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 I Don't find CXX or Yozuri Hybrid difficult to manage, no I don't pour oil or grease on it either, I simply learned how the line behaved & adapted to it, once I used & proved it, I don't have to wonder about it anymore... Nothing I would rather use in rocks.. A more manageable copoly would be Pline CX ... Not as tough, but more manageable... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 I it actually is copoly after looking it up. I always thought original was mono. I think even TW lists it as being a mono. Be careful of using "marketing terms"....... co-polymer, nylon, and fluorocarbon are all technically mono filament fishing lines. But in general terms, "mono" means Stren/Trilene/etc. mono line. Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I use the flouroclear in 2 and 4 lb for trout and panfish and I love it. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 I use to use Floroclear for everything. It's good stuff but there are other lines I like to use better. I still have a reel set up with the 6lb from last year and it still works great. I also caught my personal best (10lb 2oz) on 6lb test as well. It's strong stuff. Quote
Driftb Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 P-Line is decent. If you are fishing spinning, you'll feel more hits with 8 or 10 Fireline. If you are casting, just go with 30 or 40 Power pro. Both are stronger and more sensitive. Quote
Snakehead Whisperer Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I use the 2lb. P-Line CX on an ultralight setup that I throw spinnerbaits, casting spoons and tiny crankbaits with. I've caught many fish over 5lbs and the line is a workhorse. I wouldn't throw a jig or any finesse baits with this line, however... it's got a lot of stretch, but then again so do the hybrid lines. They're all good for crankbaits and the like. Spray the line up with some line conditioner and it'll cast smoother and reduce the memory noticeably. I recommend this for all fishing line, though. bstephenson1225 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I have used flouroclear and the CX both. Love the CX. running a 12lb on my bait caster and have the 8lb flouroclear on my spinning gear. The flouroclear seems stretchy like mono and not as sensitive as the CX. I have straightened out hooks with the CX on snags. It is very abrasion resistant and strong. It's my line of choice when going with copolymer line. Quote
