No deer season for me this year, not enough money for the permits, arrows, broadheads, and all that mess. Probably get out and chase some ducks once it gets cold though.

Clayton, I've made the same mistake, amazing how hard those little nubs are to see from the stand sometimes.

I've been on a rat hunting kick shoulda taken pics tonight maybe tomorrow. Pig farmer said "shoot all the *bleeping* rats ya can just don't shoot live stock" some these rats are the size of house cats. We tape flash lights to some ruger 10/22s or the Henry I just won and go tactical on some jumbo rats. My buddy joined the marines same time I joined the army he's got two tours in Iraq. We stack up like clearing houses and blast the rats. I got 3 yesterday and 3 today. Rats like most animals can't see a red light we figured it out yesterday now it's like shooting fish in a barrel the actually stand still and look at ya.

My uncle got one last night. After cleaning it, I took the heart and liver for my wife.

We got them all over our trail cams including the looks of a ten point with three legs. From the camera shot looks to be missing a front leg. We got loads of doe on camera with a few bucks that are starting to appear last week. A four pointer by my stand. But I will be moving my stand due to noise. Seems to never fail people either choose to do home projects during season. Yesterday sounded like someone taking an aluminum bat and was hitting against a tree all afternoon till evening when the rain stopped. I'm hoping to get one before bow season ends. I'm trying the slick trick 100 mag this year after all the reviews on here. If can bring one down will be my first bow(crossbow) kill. Next year I'm going to get me a compound. Next weekend I won't be able to hunt but hopefully will be able to get out move stand and set up my muzzleloader. I just got myself the Tradition Vortek strikerfire. I need to get some blackhorn 209 but I don't like the price of it lol. Is there anything remotely close to it half the price? I mean I could just by the Hodgdon, triple 7. Is blackhorn worth the talk I'm hearing?

Nice preach, I seen a little 4pt Saturday at 645am to dark to shoot he hung around for a bit before walking off. Haven't seen a deer since other then ones out in the middle of the fields as I walk out at dark they just look at me and laugh that they came out from a different spot then I was sitting. Stuck a squirrel Sunday big ole thing thought I killed him it laid there in the trail for 45 min arrow right threw him didn't twitch then it and my arrow jumped up it chewed my fletching off and ran off with the arrow still in it!!! I ran down and caught up to it stepped on the arrow and he just turned looked at me and popped off the arrow and ran up the tree and barked at me. Tough little bugger.

I got this little guy last Thursday the 16th which was the opener of MDs three day early muzzleloader hunt. I normally wouldn't even shoot a buck this small, but I watched him sneak onto my farm from the neighboring farm. I could tell he was hurt by the way he was acting and walking. After watching him for about a half an hour he finally made his way out of the tax ditch into some heavy reeds that are right on the edge of my farm, after about 20 more minutes and he didn't come out. So I got down from my stand and starting walking up the tax ditch access road, when I got about five yards away from him he jumped out in front of me and was on full tilt boogie away from me. I let him get about thirty yards away, and then I let the ole T/C Encore bark. All it took was one 250 grain TC shockwave in front of three whitehots to the back of the neck to send him tumbling to the ground. In the end this poor guy was gut shot and shot in the nose which had his bottom jaw just hanging and his tongue was half blown off. It just goes to show how tuff these guys really are.

I use my old broadheads for squirrels haha. Even with pass throughs they will run 20-30yds before expiring. I'm glad deer aren't that tough, bow hunting for them wouldn't be possible. Shooting a squirrel with an arrow would be like sending a telephone pole through a deer.

Bagged number six this morning. A five pointer with his nose to the ground on my estrus drag line. I had a mid morning meeting and could only hunt until 8:00. He came out at 7:59!

I seen 4 doe this morning and one messed up buck none gave me a shot. For came in hard and fast being chased by the big 8 on the property but he ended up taking the trail and going between me and my buddy we never saw him but our third guy sitting the adjacent property watched him chase the does around the field and over to us. Then I seen the messed. 1 point that needs to be culled out. Thought it was a doe till I seen his left antler comes out then straight down the side of it's head. No antler on the other side just the one. He went by my buddy never gave him a shot then cruised by me hit the tracks them 4 doe left and he turned around and came back at me this time on the creek bed and crossed after the does.

My uncle got himself a 6pt Friday evening. We all went yesterday evening but saw nothing. Today I'm trying to make jerky through my oven. Never tried it so we will see.....
