Robert Riley Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Hey everyone, got a question for y'all, So I have a Mojo Crankster, medium 7'4". I want a MH rod instead, I was looking into St Croixs upgrade program, looking to get an Avid. I heard a rumor that they no longer have this program. Is this true or not? I was really hoping to just exchange my rod for a better one. Thanks Quote
Mike2841 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 They got rid of it a year or so ago, I don't think they've brought it back Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted October 6, 2014 Super User Posted October 6, 2014 Sell it and buy a better one. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted October 6, 2014 Super User Posted October 6, 2014 Upgrade program is gone. Quote
dwong Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Bummer. I was planning on trading in a premier and an avid. American legacy fishing only wants to give me $50 bucks for the premier and $75 for the avid and I still have to pay for shipping to them. I guess I'll keep them as loaners. Quote
Super User Further North Posted October 6, 2014 Super User Posted October 6, 2014 St. Croix will still offer an upgrade if you break a rod ans send it in for repairs. GOLD STAR + UPGRADE PLANUnderstandably, you’re feeling pretty badly about your damaged 'Croix. So why not make the best of a bad situation and treat yourself to that higher-performance model you’ve been dreaming about? With our Upgrade Plan, you receive a brand new rod with a fresh new warranty. Here’s how you do it: 1. Return your damaged rod to St. Croix. You can use our Discount Shipping Program to save money. 2. Include a check equal to the Gold Star fee (Either $50 or $75 – see above.), plus the cost difference between the price of your new rod and that of your damaged one. It’s best to telephone a St. Croix Customer Service Representative at 800-826-7042 (select Service Center), or e-mail at service@stcroixrods.com for assistance in determining the exact price. 3. That’s all there is to it. There’s no additional s&h charge for shipments within the continental USA. The s&h charge for shipments to Canada is $30. Contact St. Croix for s&h charges for shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, and all other countries. The s&h charge for international orders must be paid by credit card (VISA, MC, American Express, Discover.) ...other than that it appears that they have abandoned the plan. E-Bay is your friend - I've sold a bunch of stuff (mostly fly rods and reels) this year, bought some as well. 1 Quote
Robert Riley Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 Sooo, since breaking my rod is "not" an option. Anywhere I can get my money's worth? I was looking at the Bass Fishing Yard Sale on Facebook, as well as the Legacy Fishing program ( or something like that), I think we have some club connection with them as well. Lastly, any guess on what I can get for it? It's in excellent condition. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 70-80$ shipped probably. You can try to sell via forums but the rods used and only retails 120$ new. If you can get 90, take it. Quote
xxmurrxx Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I would assume if they took away the upgrade option, if a rod broke i'd think they would only replace with the same model / line of rod. I'd post it on the forum or some local classifieds for sale. Quote
