Hey everyone I have started looking into getting a spinning rod and reel. I do own a baitcaster and a casting rod but it is just the one setup. I am a father of two, youngest one turns, 1 on the 30th, so I am almost broke.

Fishing is my outlet and my me-time, and I'm completely addicted to landing big fish. Having said all that I have been looking into saving for a spinning rod and reel and wanted to get some suggestions.

I fish from a kayak pretty much all the time and I have become addicted to fishing super flukes. I know there are threads on this topic but I wanted a fresh take on it. Can you guys please recommend the best rods and reels that you would use for the best value or cheapest price?

Im in the same boat so to speak and was about to ask the same question! I have 2 and a third due any day now. I fish primarily from shore and want to upgrade my spinning gear. Im leaning towards the pflueger president combo from bass pro. Im going to go into a store soon and try them out to see which setup feels best. I know its not tourney grade equipment but itll be better than my current setup at a price less than a hundred bucks. Anyone else have experience with this setup please chime in.

Pflueger President in you're size of choice , Shimano Sellus on the Rod, should be able to pick both up for about a buck twenty... There are other rods that are a bit cheaper... But I would suggest sticking with the president on reel though

The president is a great bang for the buck. The Trion is decent if you need to save the difference. Scope out the flea market forum for a second hand rod in your budget. A second hand st croix mojo or premier maybe

Ditto on the Pflueger President recommendation.  And I agree with DVT - pick up a used rod to pair it with.  Check with some of your buddies... there's usually somebody who has an extra rod collecting dust.  It might help to list your hometown in your BR bio.
