Super User retiredbosn Posted April 25, 2015 Super User Posted April 25, 2015 Nobody been since mid April? Quote
BrownBear Posted April 26, 2015 Author Posted April 26, 2015 I went on the 15th and the 24th, they are hitting on watermelon lizards pretty good as long as your in the front of the boat and not the back...lol, but that's another story. Sorry for no report, just been having really bad time last few times I been out, and haven't really wanted to post about it. Quote
BrownBear Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 Man three weeks of waiting and I got skunked Saturday. Had only one good hit pitching a jig in the weeds, that was a first for me, so that was cool. A lot of other fishermen where saying they had a hard time fishing too. Water temp around 70+. Carp where hitting up on top too, if you like carp. Baits used: Jigs Square crank Lipless crank Other various cranks Lizards Worms Buzz Spinners Spoons Flukes Quote
robery82 Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I was up there Weds 5/20. Put in at Scott's Ferry at sunrise and noticed the bass were schooling/feeding on several points between the dam and modoc. 5 fish came before 10am, 4 of them were on top water and 1 on a lipless crankbait. Largest was 6lb. I kept 5 that day; 4 out of the 5 were full of eggs. It will be a couple of weeks before I have another opportunity to get up there. 1 Quote
BrownBear Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Got two nice ones yesterday off of a White Chartreuse Booyah Tandem 3/8 oz Spinnerbait with a white grub trailer. They were in the back of the creek channels in about 4 - 8 ft. water. Ran it low and slow as possible. 1 Quote
BrownBear Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Back of a cove on 5inch Albino Fluke presentation slow dying bait fish. Evening catch. Picture doesn't do this fish justice, it was a good 3+lbs. 1 Quote
BrownBear Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Beautiful warm morning, little drizzle, water temp 65. Used green and brown plastics, worms, lizards, and others. Caught several nice bass and one catfish. 1st and biggest of the day caught by my friend it was 4lbs. Â Quote
BrownBear Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 Â Happy New Year! Went out this afternoon, put in at Points West water was 336ft, and around 60 degrees, looked cleaner than last week. Started fishing the banks with lizards and worms working slow in about 3-8 foot water. Threw lizard in and sent a text, started taking up my slack and fish on! Fishing was pretty good, total caught today was 7 nice size bass. Baits used: BioSpawn brown worm with plasma tail - HOT!!! Brushhog green lizard - worked well too. Small green craw - worked. Added pic of Point West boat dock, bring waders no matter where you go right now. Â Above is this boat ramp at Points West, bring your waders! Quote
bassjunkie87 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 My buddy was down there sat he said he only caught three we have only been there a few times. Are the flood gates still open? And what area would you suggest focusing on this time of year (not asking for any secret spots lol)? we put in at dorn. and what type of baits thanks for any input! We are fishing the bass pro big bass tournament down there in march and trying to get to know the lake a lil better. Quote
BrownBear Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 Flood gates are still open and will be for awhile. You can call the Corps (#1-800-533-3478) to get the latest info on the dam. 4 minutes ago, bassjunkie87 said: we put in at dorn Not sure if that is a typo or what, but if you meant dam, I would probably try to go a little more north than that, never had good fishing down there. Check websites and call ahead to spots to make sure their boat ramps are open too. Think Wildwood closed their ramps. With the weather being crazy, not sure how they are doing right now. But head towards the banks and work your way out to deeper water, white spinner bait, worms, lizards, jigs. Everything is underwater so a lot of "new" cover and structure for the bass is there. You can also check southernfishingreport.com for what they have been using. Good luck to you. Quote
bassjunkie87 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Dorn Fishing facility its on the SC side and thanks for the input Quote
BrownBear Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 16JAN2016 Water 50'ish degrees, -3 from full pool, air high 50s to mid 60s, slight breeze. Morning fishing was fair. Caught 3, 2 on 6" Watermelon Lizard in cove, 1 off a point with White/Chart Spinnerbait around Points West. Quote

BrownBear Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 I was thinking about it...but it depends if the weather gets colder, if not I will probably be out there. Quote

Saw on the news that some guy about died being out there this weekend, bad weather with no lifejacket on, crazy. 1 hour ago, Triton Tiger said: where the fish at? If you check Southern Fishing Report (http://www.southernfishing.com/current-fishing-report.html) it will give you a idea of where they are at. They update their site a least weekly and what they are using to catch them. Quote
BrownBear Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 Cold morning warmed up after 9am, caught this one around 10am with a worm, in a cover away from the wind, water temp 53. Quote
robery82 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 headed to the lake weds morning! feels like it has been forever since i've been on the water. 1 Quote
robery82 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Spoiler  My dad was excited to see me bringing him some fish, lol. I was reminded why I don't really like fishing early Spring. The bass are all over the place. The pattern seems to be to go up and down every bank, into every pocket and across every point. The top two fish were caught along the rocks at the dam. one was from a rocky point midlake, and the other were midway into a cove. I had 2 fish, on consecutive casts, jump and throw the bait in the very back of that same cove. they were each about the same size as the bottom two. Quote
BrownBear Posted March 25, 2016 Author Posted March 25, 2016 Nice catches rob! Yeah last weekend I went out and it was about the same, think the fish are confused with all the weather changes...lol. Quote
22hertz Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Fishing is inconsistent right now. I went yesterday and didn’t catch a thing (along with everyone else there. Two guys there said they were fishing the day before and tearing them up. I went March 15 and March 17 and had lots of success. Quote
BrownBear Posted March 27, 2016 Author Posted March 27, 2016 True, my buddy had the week off and was averaging about 10 fish every day, went out yesterday before the storm and caught a few, one was 6.5lbs. It was very crowded out Friday and Saturday. Quote
22hertz Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I went night fishing March 30 & 31 and caught a lot. Using live bait, fishing off the bottom. Fishing was slow until the sun went down, and really picked up both nights as a breeze started blowing creating chop. Once night and chop started I could throw the bait, count to ten and would get a bite every time. Caught many different species. Good times Quote
