Super User Hi Salenity Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 80# oil pressure? 1 Quote
Super User tomustang Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 And 500rpm for 24mph 1 Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 I think my 04 with a 4.8 only held 40 psi 1 Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Well that didnt take long. I did not even notice the 80 PSI so we have 2 winners. Tomustang is correct. From what I found. Dash is messed up and it says 24 mph at 500 rpm. So from this morning I have to subtract 24mph from my speed to calculate my actual speed. Guys please pm me your Name and address. I'll ship you out some jigs. Thanks for playing. 4 Quote

Super User F14A-B Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 It's a GM product, lol! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 It's a GM product, lol! Yep, it's actually running, that's how we know. A ford would have just read zeros across all the gauges, LOL. 1 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 Oh come on! Gauges are soo over rated! 2 Quote
Bladesmith, Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I believe that if my temp gauge said above 210 degrees I would be concerned. Quote
Washout Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I believe that if my temp gauge said above 210 degrees I would be concerned. We must drive the same vintage of vehicles, but the newer stuff has warmer thermostats to help with emissions control. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 Mike, i think you may have a 3rd winner here man.... the obvious thing wrong with the picture is you're driving and snapping a cell phone pic at the same time.... 2 Quote
mjseverson24 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Mike, i think you may have a 3rd winner here man.... the obvious thing wrong with the picture is you're driving and snapping a cell phone pic at the same time.... well he may be driving, but he is going 0 mph as he said he had to subtract 24 from his speed to get actual speed, so at the speed the vehicle was going at the time of the photo i don't think he was too much of a hazard. lol... benthinkin Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 There is definately something wrong with the oil. If your gauge is reading a maximum oil pressure there is probally a blockage somewhere. As for just the speedo then its fine. Basically its a cable that twists with the speed of the tires and it is corresponding to the gauge. If something slips or the tension is released at some point the speedo will read wrong. The first person to tell me whats wrong with this picture wins 3 free jigs. This happened this morning. primetime Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Good job to the winners, you can never have enough quality jigs especially with cold weather coming. Quote

There's a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) which tells the computer what the speedo should read. Ditto the tach -- I believe those signals come solely from the computer now. If these readings were correct, the check engine light would trip and the engine probably wouldn't run. I'm saying there's a common ground for the oil pressure and tach that's shorted. That's my best guess knowing GM stuff but not knowing the particulars of this vehicle. Josh Quote

I spend most of my time with old POS trucks in auto shop at school so most everything is old and analog so we just go by what the gauges say and that kind of stuff. Sorry for the confusion. Quote
flipin4bass Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I'm a Ford man and I got a kick out the replies from the Ford owners. This thread looked like fun for everyone so, I'll throw one in for you. The first person to identify this building and it's location will receive a new Megabass Pop Max, in AKA Tora color from my collection. Good Luck! Quote
Smokinal Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 That's a typical, bad GM circuit board right there. We see many of them. The low RPM, incorrect speed, high oil reading and your volt meter is reading high too. We see many of these in my shop. My guess is it's going to need a new board. Quote

I see where over 30 folks have downloaded this picture, someone is working hard to identify this building and it's location. I'll check back around six in the morning and see if anyone is getting one of my Pop Max lures. Again, Good Luck! (This is kind of fun.) Quote
