Super User tcbass Posted October 2, 2014 Super User Posted October 2, 2014 I have a 24v 80lbs thrust Terrova with Ipilot and Autopilot. So when I first get on the water my Ipilot remote doesn't always turn on. Sometimes I have to shake it or keep pushing buttons and eventually it turns on. I was thinking it might be the remote battery, but after searching the net I've seen it could be some other problems. Two of my problems are the fact that I'm probably done fishing for the year and most likely won't get back out again to test out a new remote battery. The other problem is that the 2 year warranty is almost up. I hate to bring it in when it's only a minor remote battery issue. What should I do? Quote

I saw one of the solutions was to put a dime behind the battery. I'm not sure that's a great idea. Is it safe? Also, no one says exactly what remote they have. I have the medium sized Ipilot remote, not the huge fancy one and not the small wrist one, I'm not sure which one they are describing in their posts. Quote

Put the dime behind it, it's fine. It works on the gen 2 remote. The link remote is rechargeable and the gen 1 remotes probably have all the buttons broken off them by now. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 I have to manually start mine with the foot pedal and then my remote works fine. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted October 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted October 3, 2014 I have to manually start mine with the foot pedal and then my remote works fine. This is even after that. How do I know wjat Gen it is? Quote
Super User slonezp Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 This is the gen 2 http://www.basspro.com/Minn-Kota-iPilot-Wireless-GPS-Trolling-System-Replacement-Remote/product/10215404/ If you have a gen 1, the button pad will eventually break and the gen 2 is the replacement. There were no battery problems with the gen1 Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted October 3, 2014 Super User Posted October 3, 2014 I have the gen 1 apparently. Quote
