CarolinaBoy4Life Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Been looking and researching alot on a new crankin setup. Was wanting to get a crankin stick but BPS has not had the size and rating's I am looking for. Seem's that they no longer make the 7' M or MH. Been looking into Lew's Rod's as well and the David Fritt's rod caught my eye. Anyone have any experience with this rod? Also the Veritas winch 2.0 is an option Quote
Alpha Male Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 i really like my veritas 2.0. I have the medium winch model and its a little underpowered for the deeper cranks but i like for lipless and squarebills. Quote
CarolinaBoy4Life Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 What's the biggest crankbait you would throw on that rod? Quote
Alpha Male Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 1/2oz or so. I have thrown some 5/8oz and 3/4oz 12-15ft divers and I can tell that the rod loads a bit too much. Quote
GoDeep Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I have a 7'6 MH moderate fast Crucial that I LOVE. You can get them on clearance for around $100 now which is a steal. 1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 2, 2014 Super User Posted October 2, 2014 I used to own a Kistler Magnesium TS Crankbait series rod, M power, after fishing a few ocassions with it I concur, M power feels underpowered, I think MH is a much better option. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 2, 2014 Global Moderator Posted October 2, 2014 If you're looking for something towards the lower end the Academy Ethos cranking rods are great rods. I have a 7' MH/M that has been a great rod for me. Quote
SenkoGuru Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I feel that bluebasser86 is correct. The Ethos are not bad rods for the price and them might be worth looking into if you were wanting a BPS rod then I think they could fill those shoes. The Duckett Ghostt cranking rods are very nice too and they can be had a good price. I looked the new Veritas 2.0 rods over at the local BPS and I was surprised by what I seen. The handles were not lines up right on many rods and the line guides were way off. They looked very bad and I really wonder how those made it onto the shelf. If you buy one look it over really well before you get it. Quote
