I finally finished the frog rod I have been working on. ;D Not quite as fancy as some of the art work you guys are posting pictures of but it casts very nicely. There are a couple of blemishes but I am happy with it. ;D

Now all I need is for all the ice and snow to melt and the weeds to start growing ::)

Come on spring

vtbassin,

I like it a lot!!   :)

Functionality over b-ling, that is the key to a good rod..With it spiral wrapped wait until you feel how stable the rod fishes..

Now when you get the ice thawed and the weeds up, catch us a PB and post the pic...

I give it a big 10 up!!

Good Job! I love a simple spiral. All of my baitcasters (except one) are wrapped like yours now. You will love how it fishes. Way to git r dun.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone ;D

It is a Shikari IMB 704.  I added 5/8 oz of weight into the butt of the blank to get it to be just about neutral balanced while holding the reel.  It casts and feels very nice in the back yard snow.

Vermont has outlawed the use of lead sinkers.  I am glad I didn't throw them in the trash because those 1/8 oz mojo sinkers came in usefull after all.  5 of them just fit after being flattened.  I stuck them in place with some silicone calk because I thought I might stand a chance of removing them if I need to at some time in the future.  Next rod I want to try one of those balance kits.

Great blank choice and awesome work. Functionality of the rod is key, bling is second.

Looks great!!!!!!!!

hey, that looks great!

i built a frog rod on the same series blank, only it was 7'9" long.  ....didn't think i'd be able to use it, because of weight, but, after using it yesterday, i'm Glad it's as stout as it is!   ..those are some good blanks.
