Hey guys just thought I'd ask what is your dream combo, if you could have any combo, casting or spinning for any price. Mine would probably be a g loomis Nrx green with either a shimano Antares or Stella. What's your ultimate combo?

I don't think I have a dream combo for bass fishing because if I really wanted that badly, I probably would have it already. We aren't talking about cars here that I'll never be able to drive which makes it a dream item.

Don't justify it. Just buy it and be happy. They print more money everyday and you can't take it with you when you're gone.

I may start this process tomorrow and I am guarenteed to post pics of it if I get it. LOL

If I spent upwards of a $1000, then caught fish that on average that don't run more than a few pounds I'd be both disappointed and depressed.  It's all about the fish for me, gear is secondary.

That's fine, I'm not convinced that a guy needs the very best gear to catch fish, but a lot of guys really

enjoy their collections.  I have suggested before that you (SirSnookalot) step up and buy some top of

the line gear. I'm confident it would make bass fishing a lot more enjoyable for you.

As far as dream gear goes, I think like Raul and add a rig now and then, but it is always "special". The

combinations I will pick out for this thread represent "all you really need is three". We'll start with a single

hook rig: Pinnacle Perfecta 7 DHC7-731CAH/ Pinnacle Primmus.

For treble hooks:  St. Croix AVC70MM/ Shimano CH50Mg

Spinning: G.Loomis PR844C/ Stella 2500FI

And just one more because this is my favorite:  G.Loomis MBR842C/ Core 50Mg

I have part of it right now. Just bought a Daiwa SS SV, and I have a blank still in the tube, wating for time to build it. Phenix K2, 6'8" ML-F, 1/16 - 5/8oz lure weight, 4-12lb line weight.

The rod blank weighs just 1.23oz. I have a set of Recoils, a carbon fiber MVT reel seat, and some 6lb foam to turn into grips. 6lb foam is lighter, and tougher than cork. I'll be going for a minimalist build, everything I need and nothing more, hoping to get a finished rod not much over 2oz. 2.25oz is a very real possibilty. 2oz is pushing it.

Put that together with a 5.3oz reel, and I'll have a bait finesse combo lighter than a lot of reels.

Ugly stick with a abu garcia cardinal reel.

I was thinking along the same lines last night, but didn't want to be the first poster.....and reply with a smart mouth answer.  I see the OP didn't have to wait long to get one.  :teeth:

My favorite combo most likely would be a lot cheaper than yours....and I actually have it....a 6' MH Berkley Lightning and Daiwa Procaster 100HN...$48.02 total with tax...a dedicated spinnerbait set-up.  :eyebrows:

I don't have my gear pared down to only favorites like Raul, but I do enjoy them all even tho there are a few I would like to upgrade.  One of my more 'favorite' favorites is the Zillion 50th Anniversary on a 7' MH Rainshadow RX7.  One of my favorites in a Medium power rod set-up is a Curado 51E and 6'10" MF Fenwick Smallmouth.  Love my Alphas, but would like to be able to put it on something like an *** to make it a 'favorite'.  (I think in terms of something I might actually be able to afford some day.)

Cool story bro. Maybe most people buy expensive gears because they enjoy using them, instead of just catching fish with it? I am pretty happy with all of the combos I have right now. Dream gear will probably be Daiwa Wajima Special stuffs.

If I were still using my old gear, I would have quit fishing a few years ago.....again.  My gear is the only reason I keep going.  It sure as heck isn't because of the fish I catch......or should I say don't catch?  :sad78:  I quit for 23 years because fishing sucks so bad in this area.  Quality gear...and I'm not talking $300 or more rods and reels (much less for the most part)...brings some joy and keeps me going out.

Wow, your comment depresses me !!

I have my dream reels, my ktf aldebarans and conquest 51. My dream rods would be the megabass arms challange, and a custom finesse rod on a k2 or nfc blank...

It's a good thing the OP didn't ask if you thought it was worth spending his money on something he loves to do otherwise half your posts might make a trickle of sense.

I'd kill for a combo that could get rid of the Saltwater guys that consistently post salt biased, backhanded comments about how inferior bass are to their salt fish where a small fish is 25# ON A BASS FISHING FORUM. Cool story, you don't think spending money on a "freshwater bass fishing" combo is worth it because a 2# fish puts up no fight. We get it, you guys don't like baitcast gear and feel that 10# braid can handle anything under the sun because the only thing you fish with is a mepps spinner and a worm. Probably the JDM version of the HogwartX894 would handle my needs.

I like spending money on things that put a smile on my face. Good beer, outlaw women, fishing equipment, car parts, ect

Catching fish is fun but I enjoy it more using nice gear. I've blown about $600 on a swimbait setup and some different baits in the past month. Still haven't caught a fish on it but when I do it'll be that much sweeter.  You can't take your money with you, so you might as well have fun with it.
