1099gl Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 action and power for all around crankbait fishing...everything but 15-20 food deep divers. so a rod for chucking squarebills, 5-10 foot crankbaits and smaller baits like a shad rap. thanks Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted September 26, 2014 Super User Posted September 26, 2014 My most versatile crankbait rod is a MH/M 7ft graphite rod, let the weight of the baits you are going to throw and the size of the line you intend to use help you decide between Medium and Medium Heavy powered rod, a lot of variance from mfg to mfg. ABW Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Powell Diesel 7 Ft MH Mod-fast. Love this rod for squarebills Quote
fisherrw Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Phenix composite crank x10 is a sweet rod. Very versatile. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 26, 2014 Super User Posted September 26, 2014 Love my 2014 Crucial 7' M-M cranking rod Quote
Josh Smith Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I am liking the hybrid Cherrywood HD over a lot of my more expensive stuff. In fact, I sorta' feel like I shouldn't like a $20 rod as much as I like this one. It's strange and I keep waiting for the catch, but it never comes. The Cherrywood HD is a bit more whippy like a glass rod, but still as sensitive as some full-graphite rods out there. It handles cranks well. Josh Quote

Super User CWB Posted September 28, 2014 Super User Posted September 28, 2014 Veritas 7'0" Med. Winch. Landed bass over 6 and a few surprise pike and musky up to 15-18. Paired with my BB1 Pro and 10 lb. Hybrid, its like launching a missile when you cast. Quote
Hogsticker Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 7 ft Kistler Klx medium heavy crank, rip, twitch. Moderate fast Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted September 28, 2014 Super User Posted September 28, 2014 I like a MHM in a St Croix avid or legend extreme. That same rod will handle jerk baits, topwaters & frogs up to an ounce in weight. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted September 28, 2014 Super User Posted September 28, 2014 I would say you are looking for a 7' MH-M just because of the square bills but it will handle medium depth ok but not a shad rap, well not a 5 or 6, and even a 7 will not be the best casting on the medium heavy. Super User FishTank Posted September 28, 2014 Super User Posted September 28, 2014 7' MH Moderate-Fast Shimano Crucial. Quote
