Super User Darren. Posted July 11, 2015 Author Super User Posted July 11, 2015 Interesting info now that the line is out and in use by some. Just bought a 1500 yard spool of PP Slick in 15 lb test, so unlikely I'll try Gliss any time soon.... Quote
Todd2 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I'm not a fan of braid, but this is interesting. Of course, I've got enough Mccoy to last for a while and found a new 1/4 lb spool of Big Game floating in the lake yesterday that must've blown out so I'm good for a while. I'd like to see the translucent reviews though. Quote
Jon G Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I just want a line that sinks, has zero stretch, and is invisible. If this is translucent I will definitely give it a try Quote
WPCfishing Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I found this video about Gliss on YouTube. This line is German made. It's got be good stuff! I'm going to order a spool and try it. update: I just ordered a spool of 12lb green. Cost me 20 bucks shipped. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 17, 2015 Super User Posted July 17, 2015 Just ordered a spool - For me - Braided line, even when it first came out, was the most impactful advance in fishing (both fresh & saltwater) in my life time. I don't see this having the same effect but a line that has the better qualities of both braid & mono ~ Might be close. Could certainly impact many of my moving bait presentations in a positive manner. Sounds a little too good to be true. I hope I'm wrong but we'll soon see. A-Jay My spool of Gliss Monotex line arrived this morning. It's 300 yds of the 40 LB line - First impressions - out of the package ( haven't spooled it up or fished it yet); Seems smooth, fairly limp but not over so, I'd expect it to handle OK. This 40 lbs is definitely thinner than any 40 lb "Braid" I've used. I'm guessing it's somewhere close to 8 maybe a thin 10 lb mono size. Interestingly enough I got this size for casting reel applications and looking at it, unless it actually handles like it's advertised (like a mono) it may be too thin for my liking. We'll see. If I was going to get it for a spinning reel for light line bassing, I'd go for the next size down maybe two sizes. Bottom line - Gliss looks & feels like several of the more limp braids already on the market to me. I don't exactly know what I was expecting, but so far this is does not look like anything Revolutionary to me. More to follow. A-Jay Quote
Super User deep Posted July 17, 2015 Super User Posted July 17, 2015 Does it have the density of fluoro A-Jay? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 17, 2015 Super User Posted July 17, 2015 Does it have the density of fluoro A-Jay? Hard to say right out of the pack & still on the spool. Don't exactly know if I could tell for sure any way. I will say that to me, Gliss Looks, Feels and appears in most every way like braid & Not Mono, fluoro or co-poly line. It's going to have to pull a major magic act in the handling category to make me feel other wise. But I'm still optimistic and I hope I'm wrong. That's why I'm checking it out. A-Jay 1 Quote
Megastink Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I used 10lb braid for spinning reel applications, and the closest thing to it, diameter wise, is the 24lb, which is what I'll be buying. 1 Quote
Penguino Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Its a bit expensive for a braid or fused braid. It cost around 20$ to buy it off ebay for 150 yards. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted July 22, 2015 Super User Posted July 22, 2015 What color did you get? I still have not see any reports about the translucent color. I have the Green and I'm heading out right now to try it out. I spooled it up and preformed a preliminary "Dry Run", casting it out in the back forty yesterday. I'm very happy report that it did cast quite well "Dry". So at least initially that's good and I'm anxiously optimistic. More to follow. A-Jay 1 Quote
