Everyone here has started fishing at some point obviously , being introduced to the art of fishing, angling etc. but what was it or what made you say to yourself doing it the first time or maybe longer than that this is me! or this is what i want to pursue ? i myself was a kid about 5or 7yrs of age when i started fishing with my parents on vacation, and was catching sunfish, bullhead's,and bass for the most part . i think the first fish i caught ,don't remember what it was, but that's all it took for me . and don't know how i've decided to pursue that species the largemouth bass, but i'm glad i did. so what did it take for you to get fascinated or interested in bass fishing or just fishing in general? i don't know if people get that into fishing as quick as i did, i can't speak for them, just myself . what's your op? i think i'm an above average fisherman after all the methods or ways i've developed for fishing for bass,an average one for everything else, so how do you rate yourself doing fishing in general?

I blame my Grama she use to sit and catch Crappie at the lake and I started joining her when I was two or three. Growing up in FLA you get to fish for trophy LMB and go offshore for some table fare! I have a nine year old now and if he wants to go fishing with me he is always welcome but I do not make him go. He has been in Bass Master Mag twice already and this was the pic from Jan 2013 issue.

My papa started taking me fishing when I was little and that got me into it, didn't start getting more into bass fishing and taking it more serious until a couple years ago

I grew up hunting and riding dirt bikes. I did fish a little as a kid, but no big deal. I felt that fishing was for guys who couldn't shoot. I retired and had a friend that was hooked on bass. He took me out n I caught a couple. I thot I could do this again. Then he took me out again and I caught more bass and my PB at the time of 3 lbs. That hooked me. I bought a boat and have almost given up hunting. Here in CAL its getting harder to find a place to hunt and fishing is everywhere.

Before I was born, my grandfather bought me a rod and reel and a pump action 410.

The fishing stuck. Lol.

Since very early, I was fishing at family reunions in the greenbriar river in WVA. ...catching rockbass and bream, the occasional smallmouth and trout. We moved to Florida when I was young and my mom and dad loved to fish. It was just something that was always part of my life. About 15 years ago I got serious about inshore fishing. About 6 years ago, I started doing a bass tournement every now and then.

This past summer, I went back to my "home" water at greenbriar and caught the smallie in my avatar.

Fishing has been such a huge part of my life.... i can't imagine a life without it!

Grew up in North Jersey and an active Boy Scout.  I used to love the outdoors and did everything I could to participate in all the outdoor activities.  Camp Tamarack had a nice 100 acre private lake.  I would spend all day out there fishing it if I could.  That's where it all started.  50 years and at least $100,000 dollars spent.  I moved to Florida 40 years ago because of the year round outdoors, and the fishing possibilities.  You gotta love this place! :respect-059:

My Dad would take me catfishing with him, but I didn't have the greatest attention span and got bored easily.  Then one day a got a 2 lb. channel cat on live bait and I was hooked.  Somehow over the years we switched over to bass fishing, and that stuck too.
