Squirmin Wormin Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Being into the bass fishing as we are, this came to mind about where have you caught more of your fish, would you say you've caught more fish more around the shallow's and near structure? or have you caught more out in open and not near structure ? just curious because when i caught my pb it wasn't near structure or near the shallow's , most would think that for the most part, at least i did when i caught my pb. so have you caught more of your fish more near structure and shallow's or is it equally the same as for as fishing out in the open and not near structure of any kind ?and do you get just as many fish and bigger fish from shallow water and structure or is it the same as in open water? fish you think or expect to be aren't where you think they would be and figure to be but aren't, imo. i myself see catching bass near structure and shallow water about 55% and not near structure and out in open water the other 45%. so where do see yourself catching more bass or most of your bass ? in your op? cubanice27 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Hey bud, Im a bank fisherman so I would say I catch most of my bass any where from 20 feet to 10 feet off shore. I dont get to many opportunities to fish deep. Also here in Chicago, there are not to many lakes to fish (besides lake Michigan) and if there is, they are relatively small/shallow IMO. Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 How do you separate structure from open water, Suspended bass? How do you define shallows and near structure, A point that drops off into deep water? I catch most of my bass on isolated deep structure because that is where I fish the majority my time on the water; 10' to 35'. Tom Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 Squirmin, how would you define structure? I look at structure as stuff like drop offs, humps, ledges etc and cover as stuff like logs, matted grass, docks. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 What WRB said, I mean there is offshore structure... If you're catching Bass offshore, there's a very good reason they are there. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 fish you think or expect to be aren't where you think they would be and figure to be but aren't, imo. honest question man, do you read or re-read these posts before you hit the green post button? Quote
