Since we've gotten into bass fishing, do or would you say you've developed your own personal way or method for fishing ? or after being into bass fishing would you say you've developed a method for fishing from another person and use theirs ? i myself have taken alot of info for fishing from various sources, fishing shows, magazines ,etc..but might use the method for my fishing, but would also say don't copy either . some might do the same as some other's do, some might also have a fishing celebrity they do what they do or imitate their method for fishing. so do you have a method for fishing you've made for yourself by yourself ? or go by someone else's method or way for fishing ? we use different styles, techniques ,patterns etc...i'm sure . no offence but its kinda like monkey see monkey do, when it comes down to it. figuratively speaking . your op on this.

I think that everyone fishes differently.  I would say that after fishing with a lot of guys that I fish slower then every person I have ever fished with.

What do you mean by slow?  Retrieve, fan casting, and analyzing everything to the smallest detail?

I think we all work techniques that accentuate our strengths and make us feel good. I am what I would call a slow methodical angler. I love making long casts to targets and then slowly work it back, watching and feeling for subtle bites. Its almost like a game of long distance darts. The waters I fish are often clear to lightly stained. So long casts help improve the catch rate. How close can I get to that down tree, clump of weeds, hole in the pad field, or under that tree branch. To me the dart game is part of the fun, and having fun is what its all about.

I wish I could get into flipping, and over the years I have tried, but to me, its like watching paint dry, and way too much like work. Whatever your style good luck, and good catching.

I will take 10 casts in an area when everyone else will take 5. I will try every angle, speed, or good looking spot multiple times and often with multiple lures.  I do most certainly pay attention to the smallest detail. That smallest detail at times is the difference between catching lunkers or catching nothing.

I'm going to start paying more attention to how I approach things, and follow this example more.

It sure is working for YOU mainebass!

That's not slow dude, that is called methodical.

When I am fishing I rarely use a speed on my trolling motor above 1. Even when I am using 1 I don't have it on constantly. I will move up a foot. Cast. Repeat. If I am catching fish I wont move up. I will stay in that spot and keep casting until I believe all the fish have been caught from that spot. I have been with guys who will catch a couple fish in a 10 foot stretch of cover and just keep moving on. I have found that at times just staying at that spot you can catch several more fish. Another very interesting detail I have noticed. There are times when I pull up onto a spot and catch several 3-4 lbers in 20 minutes. Then the bite dies. I have found that when there is a concentration of bass like that there is usually a bigger fish around. After that bite dies I stick it out. I may go awhile with out a bite 20 minutes, 30 minutes or longer but more often then not the next bite I get is usually a bigger fish then what I had been catching. I heard somewhere that 80% of most lakes don't hold fish and that the other 20 % holds 80 % of the bass. In my opinion it is true.

I wish I could get my brother to do this when we fish together.  I am like you as well.  I like to pick a spot apart.  He likes to give it 2 casts and move on, really gets to me because I know we are missing fish.

When I fish with my gramps he is the same way, he'll catch 3 good fish out of a patch of trees then move along to a different patch of trees... don't really see the logic in that.

I guess I am more positive about a spot than negative.  My brother looks at it as a waste of time because there are no fish in that area that are actively feeding.  He feels like he will miss fishing time in other spots.  I always say to him, what about the 6 lber thats sitting under that stump thats laughing at us right now?  We don't fish together much anymore.
