Heron Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Shameless plug Just gonna say, when it comes to using a curly grub for a trailer, these things are my absolute favorite grubs. Their size, bulk, and tail action, are bar none. No other brand of grubs suits my personal preferences better than these. Whether as a trailer, or fished alone. Just wish they came in more creative colors, but they do have the essentials. Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 They're one of my favorite pike baits. Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I feel the same way about Kalin's grubs. I've been using them as jig and spinnerbait trailers, on various jig heads and they're also killers fished weightless and burned along the surface. 1 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 Kalin's are my fave as well... Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 Big grubs are great on a texas rig for bass. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 Kalins for me too. Haven't tried the Mr Twister Fat Curly but I like their 4" Twintails for spinnerbait trailers and their 3" Sassy grub is a little killer too! Quote
Heron Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Well, I will say this. I absolutely love Kalins Grubs. Kalins make a fantastic product. However, I typically save the Kalins for use by themselves, or maybe with a beetle spin. But, for a skirt n trailer presentation(for my preferences), I find these Mr. Twister FATs out-do the Kalins by a fair margin. But thats just me. Quote
primetime Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 GYB makes some real nice grubs as well, and they offer a ton of colors which are unique, and I fish the 6" like the new Gambler Burner Worm, Or zoom speed worm....When on sale, I stock up on all Yamamoto Grubs from 3-6", and love the Spider Grubs as jig trailers, punch baits, or back in the day when I had hard bottoms to fish on a football jig...Love his colors in the smoke range especially with some copper. I like the Mister Twister and Exude soft baits and often hit their website for deals on clearance tackle as it always has a full page of good baits that are a $1 a pack from Flukes, Grubs, Tubes, and they have a senko style worm called the Comida which is actually a well designed stick bait with deep vibration ridges, nice colors that are different than most, and like a GYB Senko will only last 1-2 fish and are not cheap, but if they advertised more, we would all be fishing more of their baits imo as they have some really nice designs for more than just grubs...Spotted Lizards are awesome in early spring when water is stained, and great up North where the salamanders have spots on them in a similar design......I hear the Sinister is a great creature bait and they also have a cool looking rat, however the floating frogs look realistic but have absolutely 0 action to them and are awful.... primetime Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 If you like the Mr. Twister grubs and looking for more colors check under Exude for different colors and also Charlies Worms, and I forget the other company that has grubs very similar in design and texture, action, weight, length etc...If you call Mister Twister (they have fantastic customer service) they can order a special run if you have a color you want and I think the MOQ is small like 100 or 500, but prices are good. They will sell or should say used to sell the top props seperate if you asked, and a 100 top props was very inexpensive. Quote
