Congrats to him.

I don't recall seeing him during the Maine Bass Trail tourneys.

Nope he just used his scale he didn't want to go to a regular scale because it didn't beat the record, his scale has matched the tournament scales constantly. Ed fished all but 2 I think, his partner was Justin Kibet

Edit; Just found out Ed did get it weighed at Calef's country store has the sticker showing the weight getting closer to knowing the body of water.

Champlain's fall bite has started. Fished a team open today. My partner and I got 2nd with 24.15lbs all smallies. Jerkbait, Spybait, and Carolina Rig. The killer part is that we thought we had it in the bag. Then this older gentleman comes up... 27.77lbs... largemouths all before 10:30.

caught a 4lb small 3 weeks ago, im guessing the water was between 15-20 feet deep. If you ask me the fall bite is on, just taking its time. i went out this weekend and got skunked and the water was 2x as cold as when i caught that 4 pounder. I'm thinking of using some deeper diving/sinking baits as well as drop-shotting and swimming jigs.

Nice to see everyone is still getting after it here in New England.  Maine's 50 over 5 is absolutely amazing.  His catches just prove how great the fishing is in this part of the country.  I think we're all lucky to have such pristine and protected bodies of water in Northern New England.  I've been to other parts of the country, specifically down south, that aren't so kind to their lakes and rivers.

I haven't been on the water in a while, but I'm headed to Fort Lauderdale in a couple weeks for vacation, and I just booked a guide for a day on Okeechobee. I've only been really seriously fishing for about 4 seasons now, but it amazes me how much one can learn in a full season on the water.  Not only am I catching more fish, but the quality of fish landed has gone up significantly for me.  I caught my first ever 5lb SM, and hope to nab a few big Larry's in FL before the dreaded winter arrives.

Hoping to do a open Sunday on Keezar, with this storm going through and possible 6 inches of rain up north it should raise the lake level and throw off any thought of a normal way to fish that lake.

Not to mention there will be a 20 degree difference from Fri and Sat to Sun. Should be interesting. I wonder how much it will come up. I have seen it so high you cant get underneath the bridge. Speaking of the bridge... there will be a lot of current going through there...hint hint. All the inlets as well will be surging with water.. hint hint. I think its going to be tough but someone is always on fish there. Let me know how it goes.

Bummed, my partner could not get this sunday off for the Kezar open. Now to fish some local lakes for the end of the season till I hear a cold snap comes.
