Nashua Nev Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 3 nice jitterbuggers this morning... Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Where was this? Western Maine. Not to far from where we had some tourneys. Fishing today was tough. Not a cloud in the sky, calm, hot, wasn't very good condition for fishing. Shane and I caught about 12-15 bass at a lake I had been to twice previously. We caught two good ones. I put the pics up in the Maine Fall Bass Fishing thread. Heading out tomorrow to another lake. 1 Quote
bobh64 Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 Horn Pond today finally catching them on crankbaits and jigs, tubes did well also. Most fish between 2-3 lbs so the fall bite is turning on here. Most fish were in the shade areas of the structures I caught them on in 6-12ft range. Glad I did not fish the lunker tourney on Little Ossipee in Maine, some one brought in a 8lb LM 1 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Had a blast fishing with Shane J today. The conditions were tough, bluebird skies, light winds and very warm. We still got them though. Between the two of u we landed 20 bass. Our biggest were 4-12,4-10, 3-12, 3-8, 2-15. Hopefully the bite will be better tomorrow with the overcast conditions. 1 Quote
bobh64 Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 Sounds like great fishing to me Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 29, 2014 Super User Posted September 29, 2014 Yeah, that was a blast! Had a great weekend of fishing with Mainebass. Just as suspected, the guys a great stick, a great host, and a great fishing partner. Yeah, the weather threw a curve ball at us, but we figured it out. It was awesome, and plan on doin' it again soon as possible. Here's a couple pics. (and yeah, it got hot!) 4 Quote

I surely didn't set the world on fire but landed 15 largemouth and 3 smallmouth. Biggest 5 were 2-13, 2-15, 3-3, 4-13, 5-10. Oh and Shane... Remember that magic bush ? Got the 4-13 and 5-10 there. 2 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 30, 2014 Super User Posted September 30, 2014 Anything on the new stuff we found? Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Anything on the new stuff we found? The tree we found by the weeds. Got a smallmouth there. I also found another tree twenty feet from that one. Saw those guys from southern new Hampshire. They were much more friendly after they recognized my boat. Talked with them for awhile. They even gave me a couple beers. They had caught 4 bass all day with three guys fishing from there boat. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 30, 2014 Super User Posted September 30, 2014 Wow. They couldn't figure anything out, I guess. That's cool the new stuff's already paying out. Awesome, man! Quote
bobh64 Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 The fun part about going to a northern lake is picking up some tackle I might need, Shane and Mainebass what was the predominant color the bass were hitting on during your northern adventure? I noticed a rage craw but I don't recognize that color. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 The fun part about going to a northern lake is picking up some tackle I might need, Shane and Mainebass what was the predominant color the bass were hitting on during your northern adventure? I noticed a rage craw but I don't recognize that color. I got most of my hits on a crawfish colored rage craw. I would recommend any color that looks like a shiner, a crawfish or a leech. 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 1, 2014 Super User Posted October 1, 2014 Colors will vary, depending on water clarity, cloud cover, chop on the water, etc Clear=Watermelon Red, Green Pumpkin/Purple Gold, Bama Craw Stained=Green Pumpkin/Chartreuse, Falcon Lake Craw Muddy=Black/Blue, Falcon Just a loose guideline really. You can see the Craw I was catchin' some fish on, isn't any of those colors (as a matter of fact, that color doesn't exist, and is just a figment of your imagination!) 1 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 The bite was a bit slow today 12 bass but half were over 3 lbs. 5-2 5-2 6-8 1 Quote
bobh64 Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Did Keezar yesterday The bite was slow but I was trying to learn as much of the lake I could. The lower end we manage a dozen bass the largest at 3.5 lbs Then the upper big lake over a dozen including a 3 lb and a 2.5 smallie fished it with two other people in the boat. Chatterbait, Jigs, rattletraps and wacky rigs got the fish darker colors in the morning clouds then the bass switched to more natural colors when the sun finally came out. The ramp is another story if the lake goes down anymore I dont know how boats are going to launch for the open coming up I dragged my frame a little bit taking the boat out. This is what worked on the lake all tangled up after a run on the lake. Quote
salmotrutta Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 A couple from this morning.3-8 and a 2-11.Bass were hitting cranks and lipless cranks. 1 Quote
salmotrutta Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I have a quick question that maybe some of you guys can help me with.I posted this topic in the smallmouth forum but received no answers. My home lake that i icefish for trout has a good smallie population. This year i am targeting smallies thru the ice.I know of two spots on the lake that hold smallies during the hardwater period. From what i read smallies use the same wintering spots every year.Long story short, when will they move into these spots?I read it's temp. related.I want to fish these spots before ice-in.Sorry that took so long to explain. Nashua Nev Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 todays tanker. , yup thats pretty much it today except for a small pickerel. Robinson pond hudson for 3 1/2 hours starting at 5:30 am Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I didn't have much time to fish today. My friend Aaron and I fished a small pond by his camp in Buckfield, ME. We fished for 3 hours and caught 13 bass between the two of us. Off shore weeds in 6-8 feet was where we caught most of our fish. We didn't get any big fish. We did get 2 fish that weighed in at exactly 3 lbs. I wish we had more time to fish this pond but maybe next time. We had three hours on a pond that neither of us had every fished to figure things out. If we had 8 hours on that pond I am sure we would have caught more fish. I think that I will be going back there in the spring. Quote
bobh64 Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Kinda what we found on Keezar we were catching the fish on the weed-grass areas retrieving against the wind through and above any bright green grass. Quote
bobh64 Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 Caught yesterday in NH water's 10.01 pounds 25 inches long 18 inch girth 2 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 WOWSERS That thing is huge. There must be an article to go with it ? 1 Quote
bobh64 Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 If you know Ed he is shy but I am slowly getting some info out of him only because he wants to fish in my boat at times. I do know its a small boat pond in NH and he is saying there are larger fish in there. Just 8 ounces shy of the state record for NH. I told him he needs to send that picture to Bassmaster Magazine. Ed is the most patient fisherman I know he more often then not out fishes me in size of fish he catches in the same boat as me. If you heard of people who have a natural knack for bait cadence he has it. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 That bass is a fish of many life times. One heck of catch. How deep did he catch it ? He must be getting a mount ? Did he take it to the taxidermist ? 1 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 The girth on that thing looks bigger then 18 inches Quote
