Cujjoz Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Looking to get a new baitcaster, what reel do you guys feel is the best in this budget. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted September 23, 2014 Super User Posted September 23, 2014 Looking to get a new baitcaster, what reel do you guys feel is the best in this budget. You have various offerings from all of the major companies. You then also have the choice of new or used. You can pick up a used reel that is in the $400-500 range for $300 pretty easily. You just have to decide what features you are looking for in a reel and then go from there. My vote goes to the new Daiwa Zillion. Quote
benthinkin Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Oh so we are on my topic with more money. Let me say what everyone will, if you save a little more you'll be golden. Do what you can afford, but you can always save money too. 1 Quote
bootytrain Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Chronarch CI4 or spend a little more for a Metanium from Japan. 1 Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted September 23, 2014 Super User Posted September 23, 2014 The new Zillion looks good on paper. The Tatula and Curado I both are nice reels for a lot less money. With your budget you would just about have to try to purchase a poor reel. 1 Quote
adam32 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Current model Daiwa Zillion! On sale for 238 bucks. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted September 23, 2014 Super User Posted September 23, 2014 Chronarch CI4+, Metanium, or Exsence DC 1 Quote
John G Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 If I am willing to spend $300.00, then I will save $50.00 or $60.00 more and buy a gently used Antares HG. Quote
Mike2841 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 If buy either a tatula or 50 size shimano. If the new zillions were out Id take a chance on one of them too Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted September 23, 2014 Super User Posted September 23, 2014 Daiwa zillion X2 Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Chronarch CI4, see if you can find a used Core 50. 1 Quote
IAY Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 If you want current model low profile, then Chronarch Ci4+. If you want something that's a bit beefier, then new Daiwa Zillion that's coming out bit later this year. If you are willing to hunt for it, then Metanium 13. 1 Quote

Do what you can afford, but you can always save money too. Everyone was saying to save a little more for you because the quality really goes up with the $50 extra. At $250 and up you literally cannot get a bad real that you'll want to upgrade down the road. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 23, 2014 Super User Posted September 23, 2014 Shimano Chronarch ci4. Just bought my third one last week. 1 Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted September 23, 2014 Super User Posted September 23, 2014 X7 on the Cronarch CI4 Lightweight, excellent casting, you can get 96mm handle for just $13. If not in a hurry Gander Mountain runs get $50 off $250 spent most holidays. Then add the GMT10 code for $10 more off and you pay $210 Quote
