Looking to get a new baitcaster, what reel do you guys feel is the best in this budget.

You have various offerings from all of the major companies. You then also have the choice of new or used. You can pick up a used reel that is in the $400-500 range for $300 pretty easily. You just have to decide what features you are looking for in a reel and then go from there.

My vote goes to the new Daiwa Zillion.

Oh so we are on my topic with more money. Let me say what everyone will, if you save a little more you'll be golden. Do what you can afford, but you can always save money too.

The new Zillion looks good on paper.  The Tatula and Curado I both are nice reels for a lot less money.   With your budget you would just about have to try to purchase a poor reel.

If you want current model low profile, then Chronarch Ci4+. If you want something that's a bit beefier, then new Daiwa Zillion that's coming out bit later this year. If you are willing to hunt for it, then Metanium 13.

Everyone was saying to save a little more for you because the quality really goes up with the $50 extra. At $250 and up you literally cannot get a bad real that you'll want to upgrade down the road.

X7 on the Cronarch CI4

Lightweight, excellent casting, you can get 96mm handle for just $13.

If not in a hurry Gander Mountain runs get $50 off $250 spent most holidays. Then add the GMT10 code for $10 more off and you pay $210  :respect-059:
