Just used my new Lowrance Elite 5x HDI for the first time today. It worked great for about one hour then shut off. I tried restarting it several times but all it will do is run for about 3 minutes then shut off again. Is this a problem or am I doing something wrong?

May I suggest that you call the Lowarance repair shop in Virginia and ask them your question.

Their phone number is 804.776.9802.

At least you will get some input from a factory authorized Lowrance repair guy to help you figure out the problem.

Please let us know what he says and what you do to have the problem corrected.

Are you sure it has a good connection? My Elite 4 used to do that but I cleaned the connections and battery terminals really good and it doesn't do it anymore.

I agree with the general consensus here - sounds like insufficient Juice or perhaps even a loose connection.

I had that happen with my Lowrance and it was a defective unit. I swapped it with my other Lowrance that had the same power plug and the problem moved with the unit. I had also taken voltage readings at the plug and found good power. Mine would shut off for hours then would work for a day then not work for 2 days. Because it was new, I took it back and exchanged it where I bought it.

I had the same problem with my HB. Ended up being a loose power connection.
