Hi everyone! I was looking for an awsome baitcast combo (doest matter if its the matching rod and reel or not). I don't want to spend more than $120 on it but it's my first baitcaster. I probably won't get another fishing rod and reel for a long time after I buy this so if you guys can tell me some good quality ones that would be great! I mainly fish in ponds but I want this combo to be good with all lures (all rounded). I've been using a spinning rod and reel for almost 2 years so I wanted to try a baitcaster but I don't know what to choose! Thanks a lot!

I don't know how "awesome" an outfit you can get for $120, but I think you are going to have to be looking at store brand combos.  I say combos because they are normally going to be cheaper than buying the rod and reel individually.  Here is a link to one possibility.  I suggest you search Academy Sports, Cabela's and BassProShop.  It is going to take a little time as there will be several combos on each site, and it will take time to read through all the specs.

You can also go for something like the Berkley Lightning and an H2O Mettle.  If you can wait for one of Academy Spots Rod and Reel Riot sales, you will get more for your money.

Another possibility is buying used.  Haunt the Flea Market on this site and the For Sale sites on other forums.

I don't know the cover you fish, lure weights or anything else, but a good place to start is with a MHF rod with the desired length.  Preferably one with a rating of 1/4 to 1 oz. rather than 1/4 - 3/4 oz.

I wish you luck with your search.

EDIT:  Also a warm welcome to this site.  Lots of great information to be had.  Be sure to check out the Fishing Articles.

I would go with an Academy set up with their H20 brand.  You can get a good rod for about $60 and then their Mettle for about the same price.

Thanks a lot! I usually fish ponds that are around 6-10 ft deep and not much structure and no cover on top. There a some docks on the ponds and there is a lot of bluegill and bream near the shore.

In that case I would opt for a MF rod.  It will be plenty stout enough for where you fish.  I see no reason to be throwing over 5/8 oz. lures given those conditions.  Are there larger fish than the bluegills and bream swimming in those waters?  If not than a ML would be better as it will make the smaller fish feel much bigger.  It will also handle the lighter lures needed for those fish better than a Medium rod.   I use a lot of MH rods, but do not like pulling fish across the water like they were nothing......like the fishing you see done by the pros.  Where is the fun and sport in that?

EDIT:  Daiwa Jupiter 6'6" Medium or 7' MH for $47.57 on sale.  I have the 7'MH (at full price) and consider it a good rod for the money.  http://www.walmart.com/ip/Daiwa-Jupiter-7-Medium-Heavy-Cast-Rod/20510940

Used Citica D/ Citica G/ Curado B: ~$70. Don't buy the D if you're not looking to fish baits heavier than 3/4 oz most of the time.

Berkley Lightnings are good for ~$40. Buy some line with the leftover money. Or buy a house brand (BPS/ Cabelas) rod if you can drive to one of the stores. Don't order from them online; they usually charge shipping.

Well there is a tatula for $70 but its 5:4: and there is a BPS extreme for $40 that is 7:1.      http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/145431-daiwa-shimano-abu-and-bass-pro-rods-and-reels-fs/

I cant speak for the BPS reel but the Tatula is solid even used at $70. I don't think you will find a better reel for that price. Then you have money left for maybe like a Berkley Lightning or maybe like a Shimano Convergence or Tackle Warehouse has Team Diawa rods on sale for $60.

I have an Academy Mettle casting reel on an H2O Ethos rod (several other Ethos rods as well). I bought both on sale and got the whole combo for $90 and it's one of my favorite combos I use right beside my curados on LTBs.

If you only have 120 to spend id look at a daiwa t rod for 60 bucks or shimano clarus med for 65 at tackle warehouse. Then get an abu black max, silver max, or lews lazer for under 60. I have a quantum baitcast id sell u for 25 shipped that works great. I know this isnt the right forum for that but its a great reel for the price amd works great. Has some scratches but casts within a few feet of my daiwas and shimano citica g. Pm me and ill send u some pics
