my favorite way of fishing is mostly plastics, and was going through my tb and seen quite alot of colors, which is good but when it comes to those multi colored ones ,it made me think does it make alot of difference that much ? it might look good when us angler's see it when we buy it , but does those fish we pursue actually care it's one color or multi colored ?and do you get more results using the multi colored ones or not ? i know there's reaction strikes and hunger strikes too,but does multi colored ones have something to with that also? compared to single colored ones ? so what's your op on this? i know fish can see ,but does the fish care if your using the multi colored one or single colored one? as far as plastic worms go,there's variety of multi colored ones but not sure the fish care's about it being multi colored ! i think the fish see's something that is certain.

Does it make much difference ?.................

What do we say ? color matters when it matters and when it matters makes all the difference in the world

So how many times in my experience it has really matter? I can count with the fingers of my hand the time it has had an influence.

Single or multicolored, the situation is pretty much the same, I really doesn´t matter much, or it matter because you have a particular preference for X or W color.

I like: Red Shad, Black Shad,Tequila Shad, but metal flakes of different color count as multicolored, actually the metal flake is the most of the bait color, Watermelon gold flake ( the bait is practically gold because it shines that way ), Green Pumpkin red flake ( the bait is practically shiny red ).

I think the same, my most productive colors will be those I mentioned because those are what I fish the most.

Like Raul said, color only matters when it matters, color should be far down on your list when trying to figure out why bass won't bite.

Just fish your confidence colors

Raul said it best, color only matters when it matters!  Color should not be the first thing to consider when choosing a soft plastic, size and action trump color every time. Now, to give you a direct answer about the multi colored baits and whether they work or not, well the answer is yes, they work but it may not be just the color. Now, the meaning of color only matter when it matters is due to the fact that there are times when fish do favor one over another, I've seen times when just a different shade of a color made a world of difference and even glitter. I was fishing a black neon Yum crawbug many years ago and my buddy was using straight black, I was catching big smallmouths 4 to 1 over my buddy and after an hour I had 16 fish, he had 5, actually 3 but I counted his two dinks. So we decided to see if it was the black neon or if it was something I was doing or my line or some other variable and it didn't take long for my buddy to start catching them and me waiting, so after he gave me my whopping we just shared the bag and proceeded to catch fish. That story is an extreme example, I have had lots of days where color mattered and most every one here who has thrown a lure has had times when a color dominated but far too often it isn't a big deal, so if you feel like a multi-color worm may get more bites then buy some and try them, if not then stick to what works and leave them on the shelf but it doesn't hurt to have a bag or two of off colored soft plastics just to show the fish a change.

I like two toned color patterns at times as it gives me cofidence that fish can see it from longer distances as the contrasting colors and water color/weather need to be lined up the way I like it...I have only had a few times in my life where it was color that made all the difference, as it is usually size, action, line diameter, speed of retrieve, or a swivel, or something else that is causing you to not catch fish when someone else is...

I never throw Pinks and crazy swirls in bright colors & never liked them since I was a kid(I alway's make sure I have them just in case of emergency), and I figure they do not look natural to me, do not resemble any forrage or colors under the water,  and I have no confidence in them. I have thrown metholinate worms in the summer since that color gets mentioned every once in awhile for being the "Hot color" on certain lakes. I will throw the bait for about 5 minutes tops and if I do not get a strike I go back to my theory which is what makes me feel good and has always worked well.

I like to think that Bigger Bass are Smart and therefore I like to approach colors so they either resemble forrage, or match the water color/bottom and underwater weeds...For example, I alway's start out with a Green Pumpkin or watermelon Red worm in green water near weeds since the green is going to be easy to see but not out of place as baitfish and forrage change colors to match environment so in dark green stained water, dark green with red flake excels since Red is easiest to see and with it being a flake and not all Red, it is subtle and less "Threating"

If Green pumpkin Red, Watermelon Red, GP/black/copper,Gp purple/blue are not working, then I always go right to black, black and blue and black red, but black and blue gets the nod for almot all my flipping pitching work since water is really dark under the canopy and it is like fishing at night...I also believe in subtle rattles or a bead are good at time, and if shad are the main forrage, I always have whites and pearls, chrome/blue, and in spring Females crave Iodine during the Pre-Spawn before they finally move shallow, so while they are staging in the deep water near a shallow flat, crawfish are what they want and crave, so that explains why craw patterns, Rayburn red, Orange/brown spinnerbaits are usually very effective.

I figure I want all my lures to be in baitfish or forrage patterns so I have jerkbaits in shad patterns, some chartruese for panfish/some shad have chart tones as well, baby bass when Bass are guarding fry, all summer, bluegill/shellcracker/firetiger patterns are great all year round especially post spawn when they spawn so that is when pumpkinseed worms, green pumpkin chart tail worms are good.

If in California, Guys throw large Rainbow trout colored baits, and I am sure they would work in Florida even though we lack trout, many strikes are simply reaction strikes and after this entire rant about color and strategy, we still have no idea what Pink or Chartruese, or purple look like to a bass as they do not see what we see......With my color strategy the best, smokes in clear water, salt and pepper, and what I mentioned, I have a buddy who loves to use bright colors and swirls with crazy flake etc.....and he does just as good as I do as he likes to think fish can see it from far away and it irritates them....Who knows, keep buying more colors, size, and styles of lures and baits and all we be good.

Trust me when my goto lure for a specific condition isnt working when it should

and it should based on history

then before i ditch it for another approach, i toss it in another color

so yea color does matter sometimes

cause many times after i do that, I get bit

Of course we all have stories when color or color combination made a difference, it mattered, but why do you think we are able to remember them, because they were special ! I said I can remember and count with my fisngers those times, why ? because they were special, you and I don´t remember the maybe hundreds of times more when color or color combination didn´t matter.

So when you believe or are d**n shure that you are in the right location, the right spot, you are doing things right, your presentation is perfect, your bait selection is appropiate and have poor results then change the color or color combination, because probably you are in one of those ocassions when color matters, and years from now you will be able to tell us one story when color mattered.

Many years ago I and 5 friends were fishing at lake San Lorenzo, 3 in one boat and 3 in another, we were separated by a twice a cast distance, so that meant were were able to fish the exact same spot in between us just from different sides, we were in the right spot, the fish were there, yup they were biting but our results were poor, we were all fishing T-rigged worms, there are a lot of variables in between individuals but in my quest for better results I changed my worm color to a Mann´s Jelly Waggler grape firetail, the bait had barely touched the bottom when it was hit, I reel in the fish and make another cast, another fish, another cast, another fish, hell when you catch 4 in a row in four consecutive casts your boatmates immediately ask with what you are ketchin ´em. I gave them a few worms to each and they began to catch fish, the friends in the front boat ask with what there go more worms for them too and they started to catch fish too, in a couple of hours we caught more fish in that spot with those worms than what we had caught the entire week, when I ran out of baits I changed fir the same bait but instead of being grape it was Blackberry, like charm the fish ceased to bite, but I had other worms in that exact same color Jelly Worms and Augertails, there they go and the fish began to bite again, so size didn´t matter, style didn´t matter, it just had to be that exact same color combination, grape with firetail. It made all the difference in the world, why remember ? because it was special and it took hundreds of trips before I would step on another special ocassion.

So, you be the judge, if you are going to bet on what are you are going to bet, on a once every who knows when or in almost everytime anywhere ? It´s not bad to carry a few different things but I wouldn´t put all my money nor all my hopes in them.
