Hi Folks,

The rod that I bought from BPS with the new reel snapped.  It was not being abused; it just sort of fell in two after my fishing trip today.

I did two hook sets with it and fished a couple half oz lures.  I did absolutely nothing that should have caused it to break.

I'm wondering what your experiences with their return policy is.  I'm still trying to find the return policy on their website; likely I'll just end up calling them.

Thoughts?

Thank you,

Josh

I snapped a BPS casting rod in the middle of a hook set last year, the rod was about 5 years old.  I took it in not knowing their return policy & was told it was 1 year.

As a former BPS employee, I can tell you, return it, they will replace it.

At the store I worked in, I have seen them replace stuff that was two years old.

Thank you gents.  I'm calling them today.  I have no idea where the closest BPS is to here.  (Edit:  Looks like Clarksville, which is a good four to six hour drive south)

Reckon I'll have to send it in anyway then.

'Til then, I'm trying a 6' Cherrywood HD by Berkely.  Initial impressions are good, especially given the price.  Weird.

I'll make a new thread for that.

Regards,

Josh

I had an BPS Extreme that I'd owned for 4 months before it broke on the cast  :Idontknow:  It was a HUGE hassle to try to return it because I didn't have my receipt. My wife worked there for awhile so I knew they could look it up by looking at my past purchases on my rewards card, but it was still almost more of a headache than it was worth. After that experience I wouldn't buy another.

i've never had a problem with returns at BPS. I give them and Cabelas both top marks for customer service. They've both went above and beyond for me.

X2 they honor stuff that shouldn't be is my experience!!! I shop Cabelas for hunting and camping, BPS for fishing, and for over 30 years this has been my experience with both of them!

I own 3 Extreme's and 1 Bionic Blade rod, and none have every broken on me. But I have always heard that BPS CS was great.

their rod warranty is typically one year. fwiw, BPS has their rods stamped with a code representing date of manufacture. anyway, your experience with BPS customer service will depend on the particular store and the store manager. i had a 14-month old BPS rod and the trigger broke off...they said the were "bending over backward" to help me but it was 2 months past the warranty so i was out of luck. YMMV

I've always had great experiences with BPS. Never had a rod break or reel issues but in the exchanges I have and with them they have alway's went above and beyond for me. I use Carbonlite Rod's and PQ with almost 50% of my setups. Never had an issue to this point
