Moving To Kentucky

I have purchased a home just outside of Russell Springs, Kentucky . Right by Cumberland Lakes north side...A lot of creek arms all over the place in addition to the main lake. Don't have a clue where to start fishing. Do the creeks or arms hold bass year around or is it a seasonal thing? Not accustomed to fishing these types of water....A starting point would be helpful , and a quide might be a good way to get started...Sure a lot different from the natural lakes I'm used to here in Minnesota...Looking for advice....Thanks.

Used to live in KY but not that area. However I recommend looking into cabin creek tubes. I always have had luck in the lakes down there. They are made locally and offer great colors. Also in the spring and fall don't over look spinners and jerkbaits. I am sorry I did not answer your questions just miss the fishing there.

I am going to be moving in that area in next few years myself, but I have been fishing Cumberland for several years but have only been fishing it sporatically over the last 10 years. I fished it last year and keep an eye on the conditions. The lake had a major drawdown to repair the dam about 8 years ago, and was just this year filled back up to normal pool, during the drawdown period trees have grown up and created new cover for the fish. As for your creek arm question the black bass seem to stay more up in the creeks and closer to cover, they also have to compete with the stripers for food, but the stripers seem to be more main lake oriented. If you are looking for small mouth, that fishing seems to be better on the dam end of the lake, especially where you are going to be living. Hopefully this helps.
