I need to buy a bunch of weights from 3/4 to 1.5 ounce and prefer mostly Punch weights but regular tungsten would work as well....Punch rigs would be nice to buy in the heavier sizes as well, it just gets so expensive, and lead is way to big once you get past 1/2 ounce.

Thanks, I may just buy the boss Tungsten weights from Tackle warehouse as I have the last few times although I want some jigs as well.

EBay?

Tungsten, in general, is expensive regardless of where you buy it. The auction site may save you a few cents.

Thanks for the suggestions, I was actually on the Seibert jigs website that everyone raves about and the pricing is actually very good for weights, rigs, and jig heads, and I have a buddy who buys custom jigs from them and I have "borrowed" a few and they seem to hold up well and have a ton of options...The fact they take pay pal which I didn't realize is also nice as I can hide the transaction easier and it doesn't feel like real money since Tungsten is not as fun as buying lures...I will check out the sites and with Ebay I never trust how pure the Tungsten truly is as I have seen companies overseas offer a condensed lead/tungsten version that is like 60/40 and the samples felt great, looked great, but frayed the line badly and just didnt hold up well....

It sounds crazy but I would rather loose a nice squarebill than a 1 ounce tungsten punch rig or weight....

I use the Siebert tungsten weights. The prices are right and Mike's a good guy to do business with. I recommend the Dark Green Pumpkin.

There is no such thing as inexpensive tungsten weights and if you find some on ebay I would really check the source. Anytime I have found tungsten cheap the inside was not very smooth and would fray the line. My advice would be to buy from one of the sponsors on here as they will treat you right and not ruin their reputation by selling you junk. Besides the sponsors Wallymart clearances tungsten from time to time.

I have had some bad experiences with cheap tungsten fraying line. Buy from a brand with a good reputation, such as Siebert and NorthStar, and you shouldn't have a problem.

OFG brings up a very good point. You want to make sure the finish on the weights is very high quality. Since inserts dry, crack, fall out, cut line, I could go on, but you want to avoid inserts. You also want to make sure the insert free ones are finished in a manner that doesn't fray lines. It's easy to test, just have someone hold a stretch of low test line with a weight on it, then just run the weight back and forth really fast while turning the weight in your hand. Any fraying means its not a properly finished weight. I found the original manufacturer of the tru-tungsten weights, which I've always preferred. I've been thinking about making a video showing the fray test, but wasn't sure if people would be interested in watching it.
