For all us Black Sabbath fans, who is/was the better vocalist for the band? Ozzy Osbourne or Ronnie James Dio? I always preferred Ozzy but Dio was still a incredible vocalist. RIP Ronnie James Dio

I know he song for them too, but he wasn't with the band long enough for me to want to count him. He seemed like a hasty replacement more than a serious future band member. No disrespect.

It was Ozzy's band.. He was a very good entertainer, I liked RJD, really well too...

Ozzy knew how to grab talent into the band..

Sweet leaf, & War Pigs live is too cool!

It was Ozzy's band. But Tommy Iomi was the guy and hiring firing guys. Iomi invented the devils interval so he's excused. Devils interval you ask, look it up. By the way, other vocalists besides the ones who have been named include; Dave Walker, David Donato, Glenn Hughes, Tony Martin, and Ray Gillen. All of who suck compared to the two options I gave us.

Yea, some of those members, like Randy & Randy... Died.. Way to young.. I always figured the members were Ozzy's choice, was not aware

Otherwise... The Devil stuff.... I have been hearing that for years.. Even Prosecutors going after him... Idk..

Ya, Ozzy was fired by Iomi. He is the only constant member. The devils interval is a guitar riff. It has nothing to do with those stupid law suits.

I'm just screwing with you.

I like the sound from the original Ozzy albums. Not a big fan of the new stuff. RJD Sabbath is good but definitely a different sound. For me, Dio in general was a love it or hate it. I enjoyed his dark side but didn't really get into the fantasy side except for Stargazer on the Rainbow Rising album which, imo is RJD's best. I never saw Black Sabbath in concert but saw both RJD and Ozzy. Ozzy was stoned out of his mind and the concert ended early because Jake E Lee was carted off the stage by paramedics. Dio live was less than memorable.

Wow, you had me worked there. Of course Ozzy was stoned, what did you expect? Why was RJD live not as memorable? When you saw him who was he with? Dio, Rainbow, or Elf?

^^ LMAO... Yea, Ozzy being stoned. Geez... Well I remember when ticket prices were $ 5 to 7

Stones in 82 were 16... @ prices now, I would be livid if a show ended early... Back in the day, not so much...

$5 for a ticket. Are you shure you weren't stoned that's awsome. I'm seeing motley crue in October. The tickets were 160 bucks for average seats. Where's doc Brown, I need a time machine. Fun fact: it's a 20 minute ride from my house to Steve Deloreans old place.

I am sure I wasn't when I bought it...

Kiss & ACDC.. In 78 $5.50...

Aerosmith in 76 $1.02 radio sponsored by fm 102

Of course at all shows... And I been to a bunch... Lets say,

I really enjoyed myself...

Dio was I think Last in Line tour with Savatage and Megadeth.

If you look up RJD on youtube, there is some "doo ***" stuff he did from the 60's I like some of the Elf stuff. Some of it is more of a boogie woogie sound, but it's not bad

Ozzy. Sabbath ain't Sabbath without Ozzy. Paranoid was the first album I ever owned. I used to listen to that thing all day everyday. My parents finally took it from me for a little while, cause they were sick of hearing it.

Paranoid was my first as well but Sabotage is by far my favorite

Dio was a far better vocalist.  But much of Sabbath's best music was with Ozzy.  So...which was a 'better vocalist for the band'?  I'd reluctantly suggest Ozzy, but maybe other variables involved.  I can't completely get past my bias; if you take Sabbath work out of the equation, there's nothing from Ozzy that I'd listen to over anything from Dio.    I'm calling it a tie.

I think the Heaven and Hell album was one of the best to ever wear the name Black Sabbath.   Ozzy had many great songs with them, but I can't think of one album with more songs on it that I enjoy than Heaven and Hell.  I will go so far as to say that Ozzy was better in the Diary of a Madman and Blizzard of Oz daze.

My vote goes to Dio, better voice and stronger vocals.
