Squirmin Wormin Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I've been fishing since about 7yrs of age. now tried alot of lures and techniques , but one i haven't and want your opinion on is the carolina rig . how does it do to texas rig or wacky rig set ups,etc.. ? it's good ,bad ,and it's ugly points! if it has an ugly one. i think that's the only rig i haven't tried to my knowledge. Super User Jar11591 Posted September 17, 2014 Super User Posted September 17, 2014 I love C-rigs. I opt for that over a T-rig when I'm fishing deeper weeds or anything off shore. No ugly points I'm aware of. Quote
Todd2 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 It can be a great rig, I haven't thrown one much this year though. The only thing I'll say is that I have much better luck with a Mojo weight coming through cover. Quote

kikstand454 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I throw it more than anything else. It just works the most in my "home" lake. Not alot of drawbacks. .... I guess if you don't like tying knots then that's a drawback. But other than that, its pretty much win-win. You can throw it up shallow or out into the deepest deep. You can put any soft plastic you want on it- and even hardbaits if you feel so inclined. It telegraphs the bottom composition to you better than any other technique (IMO) . The bite is fairly easy to detect, and a long sweeping hookset leaves little room to miss fish. Good stuff. Quote
warpath58 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Its my go to rig when I need to put fish in the boat. its is one of the most versatile rigs there are, like kikstand454 said you can use soft or hard baits. I like using a floating rattle trap on it in the spring and it catches big fish. I also use a jig as the weight some and you get two for the price of one. Give it a try you won't be sorry, except that you haven't tried it already. Good luck Quote
woolleyfooley Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 C-rigs are great! Can't go wrong with a Carolina rigged trick worm imo. 1 Quote

As to C-Rig, I tried it for the first time this year and got hung up a lot. I guess it is not the best for rocks. Quote
