boostr Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Anybody use braid on their MH/ MF action crankbait rods? Quote
hatrix Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Only on spinning and I use a glass rod. I have been known to throw traps with braid on casting gear cause it rips grass way easier. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted September 16, 2014 Super User Posted September 16, 2014 I do all my cranking with braid and love it! Tried mono and FC and went right back to braid. 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 17, 2014 Super User Posted September 17, 2014 Anybody use braid on their MH/ MF action crankbait rods? Yes. Any other questions? 1 Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 In a word, YES. Now ask me when and why. 1 Quote
bass1980 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Yes I switched to braid this year for my shallow and lipless crank setup and will never go back. So much more sensitive with braid not scared to rip it out of grass/weed. With braid I just feel more in control or know what's going on. My rod should pin the bass on the hook.....or I hope lol. I haven't notice any less hook up/landing ratio with braids but to be honest I crank only 20% of my fishing time. 1 Quote

Super User Catch and Grease Posted September 17, 2014 Super User Posted September 17, 2014 I love cranking with braid because it is on another level of sensitivity, you can feel everything! it is awesome when you can feel the slightest bit of grass on your lure, not to mention the thin diameter of braid while still having great strength. Super User fishballer06 Posted September 17, 2014 Super User Posted September 17, 2014 Yes. I'll put a FC leader on in clearer water. Quote
DTack Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I like braid when I'm around heavy grass using a squarebill or lipless crank. Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I recently tried mono and I hated it for cranking. Not enough feel for me. Quote
Josh Smith Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I tried braid, then tried going back. I can't. Braid just has too many advantages and leaders are easy to tie, when needed. Josh Quote
long island basser Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Braid here also for three years now. Did use mono before, but like the braid so much more. Hookup ratio much better for me also. Quote
boostr Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 I'm Switching to the braid side as we spea... er type right now. Quote
boostr Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 Gonna have to get used to casting the braid on this rod its got a nice moderate fast tip, so it can really fling these cranks. Quote
