Trucking 98 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Going fishing on a boat, this weekend looking for bass, and big stripers any tips. Thankyou Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted September 17, 2014 Super User Posted September 17, 2014 BIG water, swift current, very deep and very clear. Stripers will be closer to the main current, bass along rocky areas and backwaters/eddies. You'll need heavier lures to get down to the bottom due to the depth and the strength of the Colorado River's current. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted September 17, 2014 Super User Posted September 17, 2014 A fast sinking rainbow trout swimbait will catch stripers, largemouths, and even the occasional big trout. Quote
Trucking 98 Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 Thanks a ton,let you know how I did Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 17, 2014 Super User Posted September 17, 2014 Also get yourself a few 1and 2 oz white striper hair jigs with Kalin smoke/silver flake single tail 5" grubs. Tom Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted September 18, 2014 Super User Posted September 18, 2014 One more thing, water is lower in the morning and at night because not as much power is being generated at Hoover Dam. The river can fall or rise 6 - 7 feet in a matter of hours. Quote
Nick B Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 How did your outing go? What was the water temp in the Willow beach area? I am going to hit Mojave for the first time this coming weekend, but still debating on whether to launch from Willow Beach or Cottonwood Cove. I would like to go for largemouth or smallmouth, but am not opposed to go for big striper either. Anyone have any suggestions? 1 Quote
Trucking 98 Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Didn't go, trying for this Sunday Quote
Nick B Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I went today. Caught 6 quality bass. Winds made it impossible to really work most areas. Quote
