Super User tcbass Posted September 16, 2014 Super User Posted September 16, 2014 So I bought these Gamakatsu Weedless hooks with wireguard and couldn't for the life of me get the 30lbs. Power Pro braid threaded through. I then tried the smallest KVD Mustad Fastach clip which is metal thinking I would push it through. That wouldn't go either. I don't think any diameter line would go through it. How the heck are you supposed to attach these to your line? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 16, 2014 Global Moderator Posted September 16, 2014 Use a very light mono, like 4 or 6 pound, run it through and then back through making a loop. Thread your braid through the loop and use the mono to pull your braid through the eye. I have to do that to get heavy braid through some bullet weights. You can also buy line threaders and try that if you want. They're for threading line through tiny trout flies so I'm sure they'd fit through the eye of that hook. 1 Quote

I use the mono trick and it works fine, you can also do the same thing to peg weights with skirt rubber! Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted September 16, 2014 Super User Posted September 16, 2014 Go to Michaels or any other sewing store, Walmart might have it and ask for a needle threader. It is a handy tool. If you sometimes have issues with the tiny micro guides that are on some rods that tool helps with that issue as well.. Quote

Your wife probably has one in her sewing box. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted September 16, 2014 Super User Posted September 16, 2014 Sounds easy! While we're talking home remedy tricks, how do you all get the line through the level wind hole you get a break off on the spool? Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 If you depress the wire weed guard, the opening between the wire and the front or top of the eye will get bigger. I hold it down until I'm finished with the knot. Quote
