Would A 1000 Size Shimano Stradic Ci4+ Work Well With This Rod?

So I ordered a Shimano Stradic 2500 FJ and Ci4+ this year. I loved the Ci4+ so much that I returned the FJ and hope to buy a Ci4+ when I can get one on sale again. I have a Cabelas Tournament ZX dropshot spinning rod medium power 6-12# line that it will go on. This rod feels air light with the 2500 and I assume it'd feel even lighter with the 1000 size. I will be using this for bass. I know it will have less line, but I've never had a problem with bass stripping off too much line like a salmon.

 

 

 

I like the 2500 size but was wondering if I could move down to a 1000 size. Would that work ok with this set up?

No experience with that rod, but plenty with 1000 size reels. *LOVE* the size. Prefer it over 2500 size. Plenty strong for bass fishing.

I was thinking about the Stradic and then going the JDM route with a Rarenium and then I remembered that this a pretty cheap combo that will be used for panfish so now I thinking about the Sahara or the Symetre so I am still undecided.

Yes, the 1000 size would be a great finesse reel for bass. For some of the rods 6'9 and less I actually prefer it. The balance is quite good and overall weight makes it quite comfortable. 6 to 8 pound flourocarbon or mono equivalent is what I would use anything bigger I would move up a reel size due to the diameter.

Well...

 

I love my Stradic FI reels, to be honest. I love the lightness when on my Carbonlites, or Compres (cork). I also have a 2000 size Daiwa Lexa that I also like, but the Stradics are clearly lighter.

 

Sahara or Symetre in 1000 size should prove plenty strong enough for almost any bass you could catch.
