Super User tcbass Posted September 15, 2014 Super User Posted September 15, 2014 We've had great success with Cavitron buzzbaits this year onour annual fishing trip. We immediately put Gamakatsu trailer hooks on them and they definitely helped. Well, I got back home and 2 Cavitrons that I ordered for the trip had arrived while I was on the trip (go figure). I didn't have trailer hooks for them. So I was fishing the other day and had 2 fish blow up but miss the Cavitrons. So I grabbed one of my older Cavitrons that had a trailer hook on it already. I cast it and immediately noticed that it didn't run like the other one did. It didn't seem to run as well. I'm wondering if it had taken a beating from fish and needed to be bent back or if the trailer hook was slowing it down or effecting it's action. Do you add trailer/stinger hooks to your buzzbaits? Are there any lures that you automatically add a trailer/stinger hook too, or do you put them on and take them off as sitation dictates? Quote

Coherence Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I add trailers to my buzzbaits when I'm getting short strike, not always pretty much - I have a few already rigged up with trailer hooks, and a few without. Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 15, 2014 Super User Posted September 15, 2014 I never add trailer hooks to anything. 3 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted September 15, 2014 Super User Posted September 15, 2014 I use them on my crankbaits. Hang one off each hook on the treble. 1 Quote

5fishlimit Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I never use them, and if a lure comes with it I remove it immediately. Quote
