I will be fishing Eufaula in a couple of weeks. Does anyone have any advice on baits and colors that have been productive? What is the water clarity, usually? If it helps I usually throw jigs, senkos, creatures, chatterbaits, and crankbaits. I am asking so that I have an idea what to take to make lure selection as simple as possible. Thanks

I haven't been to Lake Eufaula in a while, but it is still hot here in Alabama, so prepare for that.

I just realized there is more than one Lake Eufaula. I will be fishing the Oklahoma Eufaula.

We've had a few rains here recently so the water level should be about normal. Last time I was on the lake it was down about 6 inches, a couple weeks ago. Bass were starting to transit into fall patterns but haven't completed the transition yet. I saw shad starting to move toward the creeks. All my fish came in less than 10 feet of water on shad raps and bomber shad imitations. This summer has been tough to pattern because of the unusual weather we have had. My usual places haven't been as productive as previous years so I've been spending some time exploring. Rocky points are always productive here as well as rip rap near creek channels. Wish I could tell you more but haven't been on the lake for a couple weeks and everything can change in that amount of time in Sept.

Thanks Bladesmith, that is the type of information I have been waiting for. Any particular colors more successful than others? Ive managed to find some reports that browns are good for jigs but I havent found any good colors for soft plastics or the shad raps and bombers you mentioned.  Im sure things can change even day to day.  Im just trying to get an idea so I dont end up taking everything I own and making things overly complicated. Thanks again for the tips

Are you fishing in the PVA tournament next weekend?

Legends-budlight trail. I hate it when they have multiple tournaments on these lakes

Ok, good deal.  Ill be fishing the PVA.  Since we will not be competing against each other I would appreciate any tips.  I am traveling from Memphis and will not be able to get on the lake before the tournament. I am in a wheelchair and have never fished from my chair on a bass boat. Thats why i was thinking if I could get a few poles set up with baits that have a good chance of being successful my days might be a little less stressful.

Where will you be putting in at? I was bowfishing last night and saw several bass that would have broke the 5# mark in the longtown creek area.

I don't know the names of the crank bait patterns since I've had them for years but they were both shad colored, silvery grey sides with green backs and a red or orange slash on belly. The water was relatively clear in the area I was fishing (put in at Elm Creek) but it could have some color now due to recent rains. Jigs; I usually use brown w/orange slash and brown or pumpkin craw type trailer. Spinner bait; black and yellow skirt w/ larger colo or indiana single blade. Soft plastics; I like the brush hogs or 6 inch worms in some kind of green watermelon or pumpkin color (senko types same color). In muddy water I will go to brighter colors like fire tiger patterns and chartreuse skirts on spinner baits.  I am not saying these are the best colors to use at all times on this lake just what seems to work for me. Good luck on your tournaments fellows.

It says, South Point Launch, Dobbs Road.  Do you know where that is? Is it close to where you were?

Thanks Bladesmith that helps a lot.  I checked out that fishing report too. Is it normal for that kind of change in water temp.  It says the temp went up about 10 degrees over the last week. I would have thought it would be about the same or a bit lower.

Man, I'm sorry, but I have no idea where Dobbs Road is. I do most of my fishing in the dirty water on the south end of the lake, but I do bowfish the area around eufaula alot. I see some big bass on longtown creek, and piney creek. Dutchess Creek too, plus a lot of big smallmouth certain times of the year.

As I mentioned earlier this year has been anything but normal. A 10 degree change in water temp in one week is definitely not what I would consider normal. I am not familiar with Dobbs road but it is a big lake. I mostly confine myself to the Elm Creek area as it is the closest ramp to me and the area with which I am most familiar. Any area of this lake will hold good numbers of bass it is just a matter of finding them at any given time. I haven't fished a tournament since the 80's but I was fairly active then so I am aware of the time constraints you have to deal with. Sometimes it takes a while to determine a workable pattern and that is why this lake is such a challenge to tournament fishermen. If you can pre-fish I would try points and bends near feeder creeks. Anyway, good luck.

Just an update. I didnt catch any keepers this weekend at Eufaula.  I did catch 19 short fish, a bluegill, and a turtle.  I had a great time and learned some things. I guess fishing was tough this weekend. Out of 31 boats only 13 caught keepers and a few of those 13 only had 1. This was my first tournament and my first time fishing from a bass boat so Im chalking it up as a learning experience.  Thank you guys for helping me out
