GElliott Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I am looking to install my anchor and anchor trolley I got from feelfree on my new Lure 10. I want to do it right but have found nothing related to the lure mounting their trolley system on their kayaks. Hoping someone could show me a pic or pics on how/where it should go. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 first off welcome to the forum.... second nice kayak! lastly, not sure about anything specific to your kayak, but youtube has an abundance of videos about installing an anchor trolley. if i could access youtube from my work computer, i would send you some links. GElliott Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 I am well aware of the videos but, when I am looking for a Lure it has nothing. I can't find anything pics showing the set up. As far as placement and that. I have the idea and knowledge I just want to place it correctly. If you get time and kind find one specific to Lure 10 that would be great. I know the two mounts the pulley string goes in them but a pic would help me out a lot. Thanks for your reply buzzed bait. Quote
kikstand454 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 IMHO- I don't see a need for a pulley at all. And that opinion is based on having two trolleys on my yak and using them for five years now. Looking at your yak ( awesome choice btw! )... you could easily just attach a bungee to your front handle>brass clip>paracord>2"ring > paracord> brass clip>bungee>middle handle. Then do the same set up back to your back handle. That's how I have mine and I have not had a single time where I needed the ring to go from the front all the way to the back without a quick unhooking from one run to the other. Don't skimp on the brass clips. They are the first thing to go. Good luck! 1 Quote
GElliott Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Thanks kikstand454 I would like to know if you can send me a pic of how you have yours. Not trying to be a pita (pain-in-the-ass) just more of a visual guy!! Or send me a pic (be nice) to outdoornewsandreviews@gmail.com Quote

Welcome to the forum! Stop by the Introductions forum and say hi, lots of us kayak fisherfolk here. As for the Lure, given it is so new, you might want to talk the yak store you bought it from for ideas. Based on pictures I've looked at, you should have room to install pulleys at the bow and stern - toward very tips of each side. Likely the middle will run over the handle, though, based on the design. Might be a compromise you'd have to make. The only thing they offer on their site is a kayak anchor, can't tell if the bag in the pic has a trolley system or not. A little Googling turned this up (for the Moken, but very similar placement): http://www.yakangler.com/fishing-kayak-review/275-feelfree-moken12-5 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 you can always use a removable adhesive to mount it at first to make sure you have the positioning correct. that is what i did on my first kayak. You can also just tape the ends to the yak where you think they should goo and run the line and see where it falls when it is slack and when it is under tension. Quote
GElliott Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 DarrenM thanks! They do give you a trolley but it is probably only 5 to 6 ft long. I may go to BassPro and buy their trolley but use the anchor feelfree sold me which is nice. Flyfisher thanks as well to you for your reply and great idea, I will!! Thanks to all for the warm welcome and glad I can find help and ideas here. 2 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 i don't think you're going to find any/many notes specific to your model. BUT my only advice is to get it as high on the kayak as you can, otherwise the rope and pulleys will be submerged when you enter water. and i would think long and hard about what side of the yak to put it on. on my first yak, i put it on my right side and wished every day after it was on my left.... The solution, in my opinion, is one on each side. That's what I'm seeing a lot of people doing now to solve issues with wind. I put one on the right side of mine, it has been great, but I will be putting one on the left as well as I encounter just as many days I wish I had one on that side. 1 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 OP, whatever you do, my only suggestion really is to take that thing out fishing a number of times before you start rigging it up. it is a constant evolution and you don't want anything too permanent until you're dead set on the location. just my experience anyways.... GElliott Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 All great and helpful ideas, Thank you! I am going to listen to each of you and I think buzzed bait is right as I have found out so far, just to let it evolve and I will just wait till spring to do any permanent mounting on it. Quote

kikstand454 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I will try to take a pic of my setup. . But if you search "removable anchor trolley" on YouTube you will see what I'm talking about. No need to drill holes or anything just yet- not until you're 100% on where you want things placed and stuff. Quote

Super User DogBone_384 Posted September 17, 2014 Super User Posted September 17, 2014 Look forward to seeing the pic DogBone Went straight to work from work so the picture's gonna be delayed until I get home Thursday morning. Quote
Hanover_Yakker Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I know the owner of Feel Free who actually designed the Lure, so hang tight and I will ask him. Quote

Saturday morning is free, should be able to get a picture up for you. Sorry for such a delay.I like the idea another member had about putting a trolley on each side of the 'yak. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted September 29, 2014 Super User Posted September 29, 2014 Sorry for the lengthy delay - here's the trolley on my Lure 11.5: Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 29, 2014 Super User Posted September 29, 2014 The lure is brand new. I generally put the trolley where I want it. It helps to mock it up first, and go for a paddle, with the pad eyes duct taped on, and a length of cord, just to see if it will get in the way of fishing and/or paddling. 1 Quote
Hanover_Yakker Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 One option I have seen used frequently is the no-drill anchor trolley. I will likely be doing something similar on my new Hobie Quest 13. It can be placed on either side of the kayak and can be removed and/or transferred to another kayak. There are a multitude of examples on the web/you tube. Quote
