JGBassinAL Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I know this is the wrong forum but I also know that a lot more people frequent this forum so I am posting it on here. Mods can delete it if they need to. Wondering if any of you know where I can get a Nezuma Rat or anything close to it? Or just a good rat wake bait? Thanks! Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 The Johnny rat wakebait is pretty nice looking. The bbz1 rat that's coming out looks good too and seems worth a try for the price. Theres the Jerry Rago rat also. Mini ms slammer is kind of a rat style wakebait. I've seen the nez on eBay and SU for sale. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 Check out the CL8 Bait Possum or Baby Possum, depending on what size you want. They are really nice baits and don't cost a fortune (like the Nezuma does.) Quote
1234567 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Nez rats can be found on bassaholics site from time to time. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 Kincannon rats are nice baits. Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 I prefer a wood rat over resin. I also prefer anything over a Rago rat. Just my .02 1 Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 Because the way I typically fish a rat, that particular brand doesn't fit my style. Throw in the fact that they are made by Rago and well, yeah.... 1 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 Hey at least he's honest haha. Any good recommendations for the OP on a wooden rat? Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 Wayne, What kind of pin or what do you use for a replacement pin for the tails on your swimbaits? Something that doesn't rust out...? Quote

JGBassinAL Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Thanks for the responses guys. Really looking for a jointed wooden rat that 5 or 6 inches not counting the tail. Anyone know of any? Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 Take a look at Spro BBZ-1 rat video. The BBZ rat is plastic like most rats, good price point and should be available by now on TW. Tom PS, try a round wooden tooth pick to change tails. Quote

Anyone know of any? Killer instinct weasel is about that size. I believe it's wooden but I could be mistaken. Lol I have one but yet to even fish it. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 Which swimbaits? Just a general inquiry. I didn't know if you used just 1 type of pin or different depending on baits. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 12, 2014 Super User Posted September 12, 2014 Toothpicks on some, modified hitch hiker on some others. Both seem to work fine. 1 Quote

Droppingshot Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 My local shop coyote bait and tackle has them. Might not be on their website. Coyotebait.com I saw the nezuma rats today when I went in. Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted September 13, 2014 Super User Posted September 13, 2014 Bettencourt makes a jointed rat that is actually covered by rabbit fur. It looks amazing and is much cheaper than most comparable baits. Quote
JGBassinAL Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 I talked with Clayton Bryant of CL8 Baits and he's building my rat this weekend! Thanks for the help guys! 2 Quote
