dmhuffman Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I bought a few vintage lure the other day because there was an old crazy crawler included in the bundle. This one was also in there and I can't figure out what it is! Its 2-3" long, has two propellers, and it made of wood. Does anyone know what it is and if they're hard to find? Thanks! Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted September 10, 2014 Super User Posted September 10, 2014 A pic would make identification much more feasible. Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 10, 2014 Super User Posted September 10, 2014 This thread is worthless without pics. Quote
dmhuffman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Sorry about that. Something didnt process I guess. The pic is now in the original post. Quote
FirstnameLastname Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I couldn't tell you specifics, but it's some kind of torpedo lure. By torpedo I don't mean brand but type. When you say hard to find, the brand/model. I have no clue. Torpedo lures in general, no but they aren't the most common lure. If this is all already apparent to you I apologize. If not hope that helps. Quote
richienyc Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Looks like a lure by Arbogast. Don't ask me why but it really does. Quote
dmhuffman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Yeah I agree. Ive actually kept researching after posting this, and think its a lure called a Woodchopper. Which comes up as being made by "Ozark Mountain" and "Luhr Jensen". Im not sure if there's a difference in the companies or anything, but Id still like to know how rare they are if anyone knows. Thanks for the input guys! Quote
warpath58 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Very similar to a Poes ceder ace in the hole both are still made and easy to get. the poes is a great bait. Quote
dmhuffman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Its Called a woodchopper You must have just beat me to the post! haha Do you know if theyre rare at all? or how old this one might be? Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Woodchopper by Ozark mountain/Luhr jensen from the 80's or 90's. I have a bunch and is one of my favorite night time baits especially in black. Yours is the smallest/shortest they make. Not worth anything though. I have been trying to sell a new in package for $5 for a while with no takers Quote
dmhuffman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Thanks man! I thought it was a lot older when I bought it. I bought it with a Heddon Crazy Crawler and a Creek Chub Striper Strike 2100. I paid $15 for all 3 of them, so I dont think I did too bad. Im not sure how old the crazy crawler is though. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted September 10, 2014 Super User Posted September 10, 2014 Blackwater out of Florida still makes great topwater baits like that, I simply love them, I would throw that bait in a heartbeat... Dual props/ wood = great casting, great action and big bites! Great bait... not a antique thou , but worth 5$ for sure! Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 10, 2014 Super User Posted September 10, 2014 The only thing your lure need is new hooks ( cut those and add a split ring ) and it´s ready to be used to catch you some fish. Quote
