InfamousBG Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 B.A.S.S. as well as FLW need to start bringing some events to the north east which is called New England. Yes they go to Champlain which is part of Vermont but that is about it. NH has some amazing lakes. Lake Winnipesaukee is one of them. It is a huge lake that could host any event from either organization. Squam Lake is another wonderful place. Newfound Lake in NH is my favorite. It was once the 7th cleanest lake in the country. Amazing smallmouth bass. You also have the CT River which is huge and has some amazing fishing. Major Leauge Fishing just left Sebego Lake and there are a few other big lakes in Maine as well like Moosehead. I am not saying the Elite series needs to come to New England (even though Winni could hold an Elite or FLW tour event) but some B.A.S.S. Northern Opens and FLW Rayovac & BFL events need to get up here. Dont get me wrong I am beyond happy to see events on the St Lawrence River (which I just fished) or the Delaware River or others on the east coast. I would just like to see events come up a bit futher to New England. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Major League fishing went to a bunch of lakes around the Belgrade Lakes. They went to China Lake, Messalonskee, Great Pond and Long Pond. I was not aware they went to Sebago. A couple of my friends followed them around. It is only a matter of time before there are more big tournaments in New England. The state of Maine department of inland fisheries and wildlife will not allow a tourney on Moosehead Lake. Its there policy. They want to keep bass fisherman off of Moosehead. Here is an article about major league fishing in Maine http://www.centralmaine.com/2014/08/30/central-maine-lakes-draw-major-league-fishing-anglers-for-tournament/ Quote
Super User webertime Posted September 10, 2014 Super User Posted September 10, 2014 BASS has been on the lower Connecticut River. Coming up here is a case where the cost of bringing the traveling circus for each organization this far from its home location, is too costly. Champlain is HUGE and a destination for millions of people a summer. It's straight up I-87. It has the infrastructure to handle tournaments of that size. Winni has the infrastructure too, but that place is known for eating lower units. Bad publicity if a pro gets jacked up on the rocks. Quote
bobh64 Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 I have talked with the likes of Hank Parker and Bill Dance a few years ago and they said the main reason for not fishing our waters is because the lakes are to clear. Now if both of them have the same answer then it just proves they are scared of not succeeding in front of the camera. 1 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Many of the lakes in central Maine are far from clear. The Belgrade lakes region where MLF just was has a lot of muddy water. Quote

They fish the fingerlakes, great lakes, the ST lawrance etc and that water is gin clear! Heck the aoy tourny that ended today was in clear clear water! Quote
