Sam21 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Should I purchase an abu Garcia revo premier or a shimano chronarch ci4+ Quote
tholmes Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Those are both fine reels, you really can't go wrong with either. Take the rod that you intend to use the reel on to the store with you and see which one feels the best in your hand. Tom 2 Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted September 8, 2014 Super User Posted September 8, 2014 Having used both, the CI4+ is 10x the reel the Premier is. The Gen3 Premier doesn't really feel like a $200 reel to me; retail it's ridiculous. I'd buy a Gen2 before a Gen3, but the CI4+ and Curado I are both better reels than the Premier. 2 Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 not sure about the premier, but the chronarch ci4 is one heck of a reel. 2 Quote
BigSkyBasser Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Just going by how they feel I like the Revo better, it's easier to palm and the layout isn't so crowded. My biggest issue is how close the spool tensioner is to the crank arm. If you want a really lose spool then the arm actually catches and clicks on the arm. But other than that I've heard fantastic things about both and I can believe it based on the price. Especially the MGX. Quote

Shimano. Can't go wrong with a Shimano. 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted September 9, 2014 Super User Posted September 9, 2014 I think you should buy the Calais DC. Decide it wasn't really what you wanted. Give it to me. Then buy the C14. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 9, 2014 Super User Posted September 9, 2014 Go with the ci4. Hands down. Quote
Arv Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Haven't used the Abu, but I just got the Ci4 and I'm a big fan already Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted September 9, 2014 Super User Posted September 9, 2014 You're wasting you're time & money on Revo anything in my opinion.... If you want to have options look at Shimano & Diawa ... Both company's make stellar reels.. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted September 9, 2014 Super User Posted September 9, 2014 Use what you like, the Revo 3 is a good reel, it is not great. If you want a better Revo, find a Gen 2 Premier, it will fish with any of the reels mentioned and save you 100+ dollars. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted September 10, 2014 Super User Posted September 10, 2014 The Chronarch. It's a no brainer. Quote
mjseverson24 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Tatula for 103.00 on auctions sites, you realy cannot beat that reel at that price. out of the two you listed I would go with the shimano, the Ci4 is a fantastic reel. could save a little and go with the curado I. Mitch Quote
