Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted September 7, 2014 Super User Posted September 7, 2014 I posted in the NE reports but didn't get a lot of views, which my reasoning was i wanted to share my fish to others to show those of you who live in the north fishing our waters with a bigger presentation can lead to bigger fish. Not saying small baits don' t catch fish but don't be scared to try bigger. I've caught big bass from beetle spins with a grub to my biggest bait a 9 inch slammer. If you've been wanting to try bigger bait do it ! i waited along time and spent a majority of my time just fishing for any bass all throughout my childhood and teenage years, but about 3 years ago i started messing around with bigger stuff and it has paid off for me. It has opened my eyes to a new way of fishing and has tremendously help my fishing in such a short amount of time. The first two pics I'm posting is a fish i just got about an hour ago on big mop jig with a huge brush hog as a trailer. This is 9 inch slammer fish in a 10 acre farm pond don't be scared to try new stuff, fish weighed about 1 pound 1 Quote

1234567 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Didnt throw swimbaits all that much. Stuck to almost finesse type techniques. My numbers were pretty good but big fish eluded me. Biggest one was about six pounds and that sucks for florida. So far this year ive already passed that mark and will probably target bigger bass more often. 1 Quote

Yeah there's been a few times I just felt like catching fish but I'll be targeting big bass solely this fall. Got my huds, slammmers, a few big jigs and big worms. What do you normally throw Swimbait wise? Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 7, 2014 Super User Posted September 7, 2014 thanks man!!! its been a great summer i stared this "fall" off right howd your summer go? I haven't fished much at all this year. I've been really tied up with work and some personal matters keeping me off the water. Hoping to get a few fall weekends in before we get the dreaded snow again. Keep chuckin', you got some beauties so far. 1 Quote

1234567 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Maiinly hudds...68s and eight inch. There not really conducive for a lot of areas im in though where the waters shallow and weedy. The gan craft 178 is another one ill put more time into this year. Randalls gliding gizzard looks nice but I havnt pulled the trigger on it yet. Also ill probably grab the injected slide swimmer when they come out. I thought I saw somewhere theyd be $149.99. Much better than the $300 for a resell!!! Ive also really liked the real prey gill and g2 shiner. Keep it up man it helps me to stay committed when im looking for a big bite when im in the right areas! Quote
brgbassmaster Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I know what your talking about with big baits and northerners thinking they can't catch bass on them. Im originally from Michigan. My buddy in my profile pic is one of those guys and another one of our friends. Thinks you can only catch big fish on conventional lures like jigs, topwater, crank baits, spinnerbaits, flipping and pitching. Everytime i bust out a swim bait they start laughing. Its always when I'm home on leave so I'm not able to fish it how i want because were going way to fast on the trolling motor and throwing spinnerbaits or some kind of power fishing. Never able to really slow down and fish an area. But ill show them come next summer and I'm home with my own boat lol. 1 Quote

The videos were awesome. dude! i wasn't catching an pigs on the slammer.i mean i would get little guy here and there. but i switched to use a snap 2 nighs ago after fishing it hard for about a month. Yesterday i landed a 5.7 lbs way out in the middle of this 10 acre pond. the blow up was insane . this afternoon in the pouring rain i got another one 4.4.. Try using a snap with a slow steady retrieve. The tail kicks high up in the water than no snap. Ileast with my bait but there all different. Quote
brgbassmaster Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Sounds good appreciate it. Hopefully i get the swim bait bug. 1 Quote
