Hey guys,

For those who have the new Curado I, how do you like them so far? Are they better than you expected?

Thanks for the information

I own 2 and really like them. They are Very well built and they cast a mile, and the SVS system works perfectly. A site sponsor here actually is trying to liquidate some to make room for new inventory so you may wanna pm him so he can quote you a very good price on one. Here's the link to the thread on here http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/144181-inventory-reduction-sale-new-models-coming/

Ok reel... Not as good as the E, and way more finicky than a lews or Abu reel on the cast. Even with 10 lb line, it couldn't cast as far as a tatula with 15 lb even though the tat was on a stiffer rod that didn't load as well. It does cast some lures very nicely.

The Tatula tosses lighter weight lures better as most mag reels generally do, but when throwing 1/2oz traps you'd be hard pressed to see a difference. Plus some people have a better thumb than others, and will have different brake settings that will affect distance. Same goes for rods. Both will cast farther than you can effectively set the hook, so it's pretty moot anyway. You're probably the first person I've heard describe the Curado I as an "ok reel" lol. That being said, I honestly would have a hard time picking between a Tatula and a Curado I if I had to. The Tatula IMO, is the best bang for the buck right now as you can find some killer deals on them. I got mine for $92 a piece shipped.

I like the tatula better than the curado honestly but the curado is fantastic, like stated above the tatula is amazing for its price, I got mine for 115$ I believe

I've had a tatula longer than an I but have used both extensively. After cleaning out the grease pit curado and flushing the bearings, the reel performs flawlessly. I used the 200 for years (still have 50s) befoe i unloaded a ton of them for daiwas and 50s. The curado I palms better than the E for me. Neither would be my choice for "light baits" but both can cast down to 1/4oz fine and neither is necessarily better than the other. They are two different braking systems and require different uses of thumb but the difference in the bottom spectrum the reels can cast is splitting hairs. Both cast further than you need to. Anyone needing to cast 40 yards isnt doing it out of necessity more so rather doing it because it looks cool bombing a lure. I will say the tatula casts further with less effort. The braking system is simple on both. Tatulas is "less finiky" both both are pretty much set it and forget it if you have any sort of a thumb. Personally, i like very low brakes.

The Curado I feels better built, especially the thumb bar. Love both reels though and they both look great on the old black crucial.

I love mine. Very smooth and solid feeling reel that cast a mile and pitches effortlessly.

I had one and liked it, didn't get to fish it long and its somewhere on the bottom of a lake right now...

Now that is so sad. That definitely would have ruined my day.

I have three and they are, in my opinion, AWESOME! I have two of the 50e reels and I like the new i series much more. Although I wouldn't let go of them.

The Curado I is a very nice reel and with out question it is worth the price. I have a couple of problems though, I do not like where the switch is placed to open the side plate and there have been a couple of times that I have cast the reel only to have the side plate pop off because my hand has hit the switch to open it. I wish they would not have changed the way the side plate opened to that switch, the old way was so much better. I also do not like the little cheap feeling plastic brake setting switch on the front corner of the reel, tough to get set right and I feel it is below the quality of Shimano. If it was not for that switch to open the side plate, I would have more of the curado I but as it stands, I like my Tatula Type-R's much better than the Curado I and if I had to choose only one it would be an easy choice for me, I would take the Daiwa Tatula Type-R but that still doesn't mean the Curado I is not worth the price to play because it is.

The Tatula has a bunch of cool parts from hedgehog studio too.

Like to see video of the plate coming off on a cast. That switch is not easy to get at while on a rod and also takes some force to open.

You are more than welcome to get your boat and come follow me around for a day of fishing, I don't mind. Your statement is simply crazy to me, really, I am sitting here and I'm trying to think of 1 Why would you not believe something just because it has not happened to you?   2 what in the hell would I have to gain by losing out on one of the best reels made because I hit a bad designed button every so often when I cast?   3 if it isn't happening to you, why in the world would you ever care? 4 that switch is SUPER easy to get to while it is on a rod. Are you now saying you have to take the reel off of the rod to open the side plate? Come on now.

OK, please excuse my post.  When the side plate comes off the exact same thing doesn't happen every time. The first time it happened the line just caught and stopped and the side plate was open. The second time it happened I had tried to bomb a cast and the spool fell out of the side of the reel and the line was ruined, I had to cut it all off and re-spool. The third time it happened It was such a bad noise I was sure something had broken and I again had a very bad birds nest and had to cut my line and re-spool it again. after that I made a few cast and it seemed to be fine but I'm not keeping this reel any longer, I am going to sell it and buy either an older Chroarch E, look to see if the CI4 has the same button, if it doen't I'll buy a CI4, if it does then I will look into buying another Zillion.

I owned three Okuma VBS reels a long time ago that had that same button placement and my fishing partner reminded me of the time I lost the side plate and the spool from the Okuma over the side of the boat in 20 foot of water because the side plate came open on a cast. I did remember that and that was the reason I sold my old white okuma's too. I HATE that button.

I havent fished one yet, but i handled a 201hg in my local tackle shop. Only thing i could fault it for was it seemed the external brake adjustment was very sticky. Sort of hard to adjust. Other then that, seemed very nice, still up in the air if i want to add one too the arsenal or not...

The external dial loosens up over time but you can just take a screw driver and slightly loosen the screw like it did for immediate results.

I once had a Daiwa and one day I was reeling in a crankbait and smoke started coming out of the reel. Then it burst into flames. It melted the rubber off the handles and the cork off my rod handles. I will never own another Daiwa.

.....The End.

Tee hee hee!
