I love the Red Eye Shad, been fishing it for years now. From time to time though, a few of mine tend to split at the seam near the split ring and take on some water. I've sealed them back up with some super glue after letting them dry out and kept fishing them, but actually lost a few when the split apart for good leaving only the split ring and line tie attached to my line when I've hit a snag or with a fish on which sucked. I've sent out an email to SK but have yet to get a reply, as a couple months ago I bought 2 new RES in Rootbeer Chartreuse and they've split and got lost in a similar fashion as before. Has anyone had trouble with them splitting?

Yes a few along with KVD 2.5's

I also sent a email after getting 3 bad baits out of the last 5 i bought or whatever it was. They are not super expensive but it wasn't cool any more. I never heard back about it though.

Now Heddon though hooked my buddy up. He had a super spook or what ever it was split open on our musky trip and he e-mailed them. They sen't him a box loaded down with all kinds of spooks. He has like spooks for life now.

I've emailed Mark Copley a couple times and guess I won't hear anything back. I'll still by them as they catch fish for me, but for them to swell up and separate after a couple weeks though? Not good. I never leave my gear out in the car, and I find it hard to believe they get too hot by sitting in my bag on my boat to do this.

I had defective 1/4oz red eyes and 3 1.5s. Splitting at seams. They told me to send them in and i received 4 of each bait i sent in. Another member here got a TON back from SK as well.

Call customer service. I bought a jig that was missing its rattle, they had me send it back. Two weeks later I had a 6 pack of jigs & a new hat, not a bad deal.

Ive had a bad run getting RES that wont track straight on anything but a moderate pace. Try to burn them or go even a bit fast and to the left or right they go.

I still have tons of RES and KVD squarebills so no real need to buy any more and rarely do I even use baits that small any more. But there was a stretch where I kept getting the shaft like every time it seemed and I got somewhat fed up and finally emailed them. But I never got a response from them. As for the member who got a ton of stuff back thats awesome and probably like it happened for my buddy with Heddon. They ended up sending him a ton of everything they even made. I have some from that right now and i know for sure he has like all of them still. He doesnt even really fish all that much compared to what people do on here he is not even a weekend warrior.

I've had a couple swell up on me on really hot days, but they still work. Never had one fall apart or split though unless I smacked it off a rock or something first though.

I have a few that have stuck rattles. They are not silent versions. I smacked them on the table and some baits came loose and others are still silent.

The first 1/4 oz ones I bought would swell up and never track right.  I sent them to SK and they replaced them and more.  Haven't had that trouble again and never had that happen to the 3/4 oz ones.

I fished mine and lost them when they finally just came apart so I'm probably Sol. Be nice to get a reply and an answer on why they do this.

I had just the opposite happen -

I have a couple of the "silent" models where the internal weight has become a bit loose inside.

So rather than running silent, these baits have a slight clicking sound instead of a full on rattle.

I have to tell you  - they have been The Best Rattle Baits I have.

So the "Defect" has turned out to be a Good Thing.

I just wish I could figure out how to reproduce that sound.

Interesting because I have a few baits that have the faint rattling sound you're refer to. I think it's because I only managed to free half the bb's stuck.
