Add white for a swimming jig and these are the only colors you will ever need.

Thanks guys!

Yeah I forgot to list many combinations...such as:

- Green Pumpking (thanks for that GMAN)

- Rainbow Trout

- Yellow Perch

- Grey/Chartruse

- Shad or silver minnow (Grey/White)

Of course I will have some plain colored jigs: Black, White, etc. I just needed some combinations that are effective. The kit should be comming any day now...it's just a matter of getting it in!

Thanks again fellas!

Season's Greetings!  8-)

Very nice Allen! Very nice!!!

My skirts are just the plain colored. They don't have the multi colored ones like your spinnerbait. The place I got the skirts, etc. only have the plain colored, but I ordered the kit with 11 assorted colores (I listed them).

I got the kit at Lurecomponents.com,

I ordered

-20 1/4 ounce bass jigheads (with the weedguards)

-20 3/8 ounce bass jigheads (with the weedguards)

-25 snap on jig rattlers

-The Skirt Factory (which has then 11 colors, the pliers, bands, etc.)

and I think that's about it...the total was like $65....

It just needs to come in lol!

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  8-)

I have both of these tools but I never use the skirt pliers. You can just use half of a ball point pen if you want. For about two weeks both of my skirt tools were lost so I just used part of a pen that the ink had dried up. Look around at the skirt tabs on this site and you can see all the different colors that you do not really need but will buy anyway. Tonight I made 30 jigs for the spring that consisted of 2 colors: dark brown pumkinseed and light brown pumkinseed.

Blue and Black

I've made and sold quite a few spinnerbaits and I use blue/black and have caught my biggest fish on them. I've sold quite a few colors and the people with the blue black have done the best including 4 4lbers and 1 6lber in only the first 3 months.  A lot depends on the lake but the blue / black has worked for several people all at different lakes.

I've found my package, apparently the packaged was delivered on the 12th of Dec. and it was delivered to my sister in laws house which they live maybe 200 yards away (we own a family subdivision; 20 acres subdivided) and never told me about it! It's been sitting up at their house since the 12th and I been waiting patiently and even complaining to the lure company over it! Now that I know where the package WAS (I got it now) I sent an apology email to the company and mom certainly gave my sis in law a lip...

Anyway...I was messing around with my kit today, I made 15 skirt combinations and made 30 jigs all together. (2 jigs per combo; I made one combo for my 1/4 oz jig and my 3/8 oz jig) Worked on them from 3:00pm until just now (9:50pm) I have a headache from it!! Lol!

Anyway, some combos I made three-somes such as rainbow trout (Chartruse, Orange and Green), some whacky three-somes such as blue, green and yellow and some others. My favorites are the crawdad (black/red), PB&J, and even my school color jig! Blue and Orange lol!!  :o ;D ;)

I will post pictures of my jig colors to get some feed back and even some suggestions on which other colors I should try!

Will post pictures tomorrow morning!!

God bless and Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!  8-)

Black and Red did do well at one lake. I sold lures to like 4 different people and all of them did best on Red/Black. I have also had grreat luck with Blue/Black the biggest fish by far. It seems to depend a lot on the lake just like for any other bait. Depending on your skirt material they recommend sometimes using a half section x 2 colors or even 1/3 section x 3 to make multi colored.

Here's the pictures I promised...

The first picture is of my three-color combos...

The colors are as follows:

Row 1: (from left to right) Red/White/Blue, Chartruse/Black/Green, Chartruse/Orange/White, Red/Black/Chartruse

Row 2: (Left to right) Green/Orange/Brown, Chartruse/Green/Orange

The second image is of my two colored combos...

The colors are as follows:

Row 1: (left to right) Purple/Black, Orange/Black, Black/Blue, Red/Chartruse, Red/Black, Brown/White, Black/White

Row 2: (left to right) Red/Chartruse, Purple/White, Purple/Brown, Orange/Blue, Chartruse/Green, Blue/Chartruse, Black/Chartruse.

I've named quite a few of the combos...For instance:

- Green/Orange/Brown = Green Pumpkin + Brown

- Red/Chartruse/Black = Fire Tiger

- Green/Chartruse/Orange = Rainbow Trout

- Purple/Brown = Peanut Butter & Jelly

- Brown/White = Deer Tail (my fav lol!)

- Red/Black = Crawdad/Crawler/Crayfish

- Red/Chartruse = Flame/Hogan (Named after Hulk Hogan!)

- Orange/Black = Halloween

- Orange/Blue = Hornet (my school colors! and my mascot!)

man was I off track the whole time. I've been talking spinnerbait colors and your first post said jigs. Sorry about that but I bet it still applies as every bass fisheman talks about blue/black

Mice job on the baits

Thanks!

Lol, jig skirts and spinner-bait skirts are all the same!  8-) I now blue/black is a common color but different colored skirts are better for different situations. Such as on a clear lake, natural colors work best such as the crawdad colors, fish immitation colors, etc. On murky situations bright colors such as red, chartruse, white and green work well. For deep water situations I normally go with either tint colored lures (pretty dark but not black) or brighter natural.

You can use dark colors in any situation which is why blue/black is the most commonly used. I perfer PB&J personally, either that or I will use crawdad or fish immitations.

I will be making more skirt combos, but I ran out of jig heads to attach them on. These jigs are the 3/8 oz size jigs, I have the same exact combos on both my 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz, which is why I didn't post the 1/4 oz ones.

I will be looking forward to more skirt combination ideas! I will be searching the web for more and hopefully recieve some other good ones here!

God bless to all and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  8-)

If you cheat a little and go pike fishing be sure to have  a firetiger-check out the version of firetiger that is made by Terminator- it is a really good color for pike, even in clear water.  It has a triple color effect-green chartreuse, then ends in hot orange (very bright orange).  Looks so good in the water I almost want to strike it.

I use it with a bright chartreuse or hot orange 5 inch grub as a  trailer to make the whole thing look bigger.

I don't even cast spoons any more for pike.

Sorry bass zealots for adding this post.

I am thinking about buying some waterproof glue or fly head cement and sprinkling some glitter onto the jig skirts. I was thinking about buying silver, gold, charteruse, white, black, red and green glitter...

Question #1: Would that work and would it be worth it?

Question #2: What colors should I buy?

Question #3: Besides adding glitter to the skirts of my jigs/spinnerbaits, what other things could I possibly add? (Ribbons, paint, etc.)

Thanks  8-)

You can get skirts with all difference colors of glitter in then.

I know that, but these skirts which I bought online where just plain colors. Check out www.lurecomponents.com and look at the "skirt factory". After all, I've already bought the skirt factory and made the skirts, there would be no point in going out and buying glittered skirts when I already have skirts and just need glue which is like $2 a bottle and glitter which I can buy at the dollar store. That way I can choose which glitter for a certain skirt.

Besides, it is a lot more fun to make my own skirts and make different creations and use my imagination rather then buying a glittered skirt. It is also a whole lot fun to catch fish on a jig or lure that you made. I was just asking for suggestions on which color glitters to buy and what other things could I try to make my skirts more productive and/or look more "professional" (Which I know I won't achieve that lol).

God bless  8-)
