CarolinaBoy4Life Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Was gonna get one of these rod's for shallow to medium depth cranks but they only offer it in 7'6 MH not the 7' MH which sucks. Do you guy's feel that length rod would fair well in the more shallow water application? Not really familiar with cranks that much so not sure if this rod length would affect how deep the crank run's or anything like that. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 The rod you are looking at will work for shallow cranks as well. Just give you a bit more distance on the casts with the 7'6". You will find the action on this rod fishes really well for what you are looking for. 1 Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 The Crankin' Stick line-up is extensive, and normally includes a 7' MH. I see that the BPS website is showing very few models available - perhaps they are just low on stock and waiting for a shipment from China. There could be some 7' MH models in the stores if you are close to one. Otherwise, if you wait a while the web site might show the full lineup after a shipment arrives. (And hopefully, the low stock isn't because the rod is being discontinued!) FWIW, I use the 7'6" MH Crankin' Stick as a deep-cranking rod (second rod down from top). For shallow- to mid-depth cranking, I use the 7' medium (third rod down from the top). 1 Quote
CarolinaBoy4Life Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 I sure hope they don't discontinue the line up! I'm probably gonna go with the 7'6 MH and keep my eyes open for a 7'MH. Quote
CarolinaBoy4Life Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 They also don't have the 7' M just the 7'ML. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted September 6, 2014 Super User Posted September 6, 2014 I have three and they are awesome crankbait, topwater and spinnerbait rods. I have a 7' M, a 7' MH, and a 7'11" MH. You cannot do better for the money. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted September 6, 2014 Super User Posted September 6, 2014 They also don't have the 7' M just the 7'ML. The 7' ML is the bottom rod in my photo. Nice rod...but a niche player - happiest around 3/16 - 3/8oz. Quote
black94gt50 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 You def wanna find a 7 ft cranking rod for the shallow baits. A 7'6 would be extremely difficult if you were fishing close to bank and throwing squarebills or something similar parallel to the bank. Quote
