Vancestilley Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I'm sure its been asked before but yamamoto senkos or the cheaper yum dingers? Lets hear which and why? Quote
ABW Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I like the Dingers better. They last a lot more fish than the Yamamotos. Sometimes the Yamamotos tear up on me before I even hook a fish 1 Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 I prefer the Yamamoto Senko to any other stick bait, yes they are delicate, yes they are expensive, but when it comes to catching fish, nothing else compares in my opinion, and I have proven it to myself many times over. 1 Quote
einscodek Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I fish them both ways but they rip easy even when I have the washers on wacky trig.. I have owner screw-in hooks made for yamamotos to make em last longer ..and then.. I stitch.. I hate wastin plastics I dont use it much thez days but I have a senko rigged up with a skirt for flippin too Quote
GoDeep Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I like the Dingers better. Cheaper than Yammys and they catch just as many fish for me. I bought about 15 packs of Zoom U Vibe worms, and have snipped the tails off a couple bags and have been using them as stick baits and they are great. Very soft like Yamamotos, but much more durable and they work great. 1 Quote
Super User tcbass Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 I got a 2 bags of Yum Dingers to try. I wasn't impressed with them so far. Didn't get a bite. Went back to and got 2. I use the Senkos with tubing now and 1 Senko usually last numerous trips. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 Senko, wacky o rings Just like checking your line after every catch, I check my senko. if there's a tear after several bass it goes in a pile to get glued by something like mend-it or spike-it lure glue. Quote
nascar2428 Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 No contest, Senkos over Yum Dingers. Dingers do not cast as far as Senkos for me. I use Owner twist locks for my weightless presentations, they still tear. As others have stated I glue them back with super glue and reuse them. I have had great success with Big Bite Baits/GanderMountains. IMO those would be a better alternative to Dingers. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 nasacar4899, Senkos are manufactured with a lot of salt content making them very soft. The Senko is designed to "feel good" to a bass so that they will hold the bait in their mouth for a little longer than any other stick worm giving you more time to see your line move so you can set the hook. YUM Dingers are very good stick baits as are the other brands out there. Let's face it, the bass don't know what brand stick bait you are throwing so they will hit it sooner or later. With a high salt content the Senko is supposed to fall slower, too. So smear some MegaStrike on your Senkos; dye each end a little yellow when needed; and hit the bank on the way to the tackle shop to get some Senkos. And remember those two numbers that throw fear into the hearts and minds of other drivers: 48 and 99. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 If money wasn't a problem I'd fish the senko, but it is a problem so I fish the yum dingers a lot and like them. I do buy a few packs of senkos every now and again if they are on sale Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 With a high salt content the Senko is supposed to fall slower, too. The higher the salt content the FASTER the sink rate. I would pick the Yum Dingers. They catch just as many fish and hold up quite a bit better. They are also cheaper which is a plus! I use them both wacky and T-rigged. 2 Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 For me it depends on the application. Wacky rigs work best for me with original senkos. Dingers work a little better tx rigged. Now, if you are keeping score, the BPW Stick-o's work better than the singers, IMO. Chompers also makes a stick work that I think is better, although it is nearly as fragile as the original senkos. For a nose hooked drop shot application the GULP sinking minnow works good, as long as you keep it wet. It is very sturdy. Just a few other options. 1 Quote
Djf3864 Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Senko's rigged weights Texas style, though I do need to put a little more effort into trying wacky style. Still new to fishing so I am trying to become proficient in each style I try before getting into another. Too many balls up in the air and you end up sucking at everything. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 i like them both and haven't noticed a difference in catch rates between the two but i am 99% of the time weightless texas rigging them as well. My go to though is the stankxbaitco stick bait. Durable and has some really good colors. They also make a smooth version that i am curious to see how it works but i haven't placed an order recently so i have yet to try them. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 I like them wacky rigged on a eagle claw weedless hook on a 1/8oz Carolina rig with a 24" leader. But now after seeing Glenn's video on different ways to rig a senko I'm going to try his suggestions next. I been using yamamoto senkos but it's like one senko per fish sometimes. I switched to bps stick o and they last longer but all there colors aren't available. I been using gamblers ace in electric blue and been buying the mister twister comidas. I hope they last longer. The bps stick o in 7 1/4"(big ones) seem to attract the bigger bass who want a holiday dinner not a snack. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 I don't fish any "cigar" bait... I fall asleep too easily. oe Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 5, 2014 Super User Posted September 5, 2014 I don't fish any "cigar" bait... I fall asleep too easily. oe I work it as it falls, I twitch it.Split shot worm fishing gives me time to eat. Gotta take advantages of the slow times. A couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and I'm good till supper. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted September 6, 2014 Super User Posted September 6, 2014 I was a Senko-only guy for a while. I branched off into Yum Dingers, and BPS Stick-Os... I like the pour of the Dingers, and I caught some bass on them, but I've pretty much settled on the BPS Stick-O, especially when on sale 3 for $10. The Yammies definitely have a softer and subtler shimmy to them, but when I decided to try the Stick-o, I found they worked extremely well. Now if Yammies are on sale, I will score a bag or two. But they are cost-prohibitive for me. BPS version has proven extremely good. Don't have a problem with the Dingers, but for some reason they didn't "stick" with me.... Quote
Super User Darren. Posted September 6, 2014 Super User Posted September 6, 2014 Curious, is YUM discontinuing the Dinger? I went to BPS web and they don't list them. Then to yumbaits.com, clicked on "worms" and "There are no products matching the selection." I know they are at TW, but it is still odd to me... http://www.yumbaits.com/baits/worms Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted September 6, 2014 Super User Posted September 6, 2014 When I fish a stick bait, it's a Senko. I fish them t-rigged, weightless about 98% of the time. I will sometimes switch it around and rig from the "tail" end when the "head" end gets torn up. If I go through a bunch of Senkos on a trip I consider it a good thing, means the fish were biting that day. 1 Quote
StormEasy Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I like the Yamamoto Senko texas rigged, but prefer the Yum Dinger wacky rigging. I feel like wacky is more likely to tear the worm. Quote

I wouldn't be surprised if its the best selling bait they produce. My guess is that they might make a new series (like F2 replaced LPT scent). i found lpt scent magic... i hope they bring it back.
