JT.Kamz Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Hey Everyone. My name is Tony, and I'm 32 yrs old. I'm pretty new to bass fishing and fishing in general. I grew up in southeren California and remember trying to fish as a child and getting a hook stuck in my finger which kinda ruined it for me back then... Long story short, I now live in Wisconsin with my Wife and 3 children. Fishing is pretty big around here as I live just blocks away from Lake Michigan. I would hear friends, neighbors and co workers always talk about fishing, and would really get into the stories... Since then I have decided to educate myself, obtain a license, and a decent setup. That was back in April of this year. All it took was that first catch and I was hooked (not literally this time lol). I now have a decent collection of rods, reels, and lures, and have caught many Bass, Northern Pike, Carp, and Cats. I have been roaming the forums for awhile and decided that I would make an official account as I find this community to be extremely friendly and helpful. I hope to soak up all the knowledge I can and put it to good use, and hopefully share some good stories myself. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted September 1, 2014 Super User Posted September 1, 2014 Welcome. I hear the browns and kings are starting to move in towards shore. If you have never hooked a king, you're in for some excitement. Don't know how SE you are, but try fishing the harbors in Kenosha, Racine, Port Washington and Milwaukee. KO Wobblers and crankbaits will be the ticket during the early morning/late evening hours. Don't forget you need a great lakes trout stamp along with the license. 1 Quote

CDobber Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Welcome, fellow Sconnie. I echo slonezp, being in that part of our state, you should be able to find some salmon in shallow or in the tribs off the big lake now and into the next month or two. I've never come down there for that (did 2 salmon charters last summer on the big lake though) and have thought about coming down that way for some fly fishing salmon at some point after I get much more experience in that realm. I know Lake Delavan is a great bass lake that likely isn't too far from you, though I've never fished it myself. Lots of tourists on weekends from what I've read. Can't say as I have much else that I've come across from perusing sites like Lake Link for bass, though many lakes (including here in Madison) seem to be overly tight lipped on them due likely to bass tournaments.
