Mainebass1984 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I did not. Suffice to say "round" would be an adequate description. PBSIDE.jpg Yes I would say that is round. I like catching the round ones. Judging by the photo that fish had quite the girth. 9 lbs 1 oz1 23 inches long 19.5 inch girth 8 lbs 1 oz 22.5 inches long 19.5 inch girth 8 lbs 3 oz 23 1/2 inches long 18 inch girth 1 Quote

Basswhippa Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Wait.. if your pb is 22lbs how come your profile says your pb is 9-10lbs He was lying about his pb being only 9-10 lbs. 1 Quote

Mainebass1984 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Someone likes fishing in the rain.... Why would anyone want to fish in the rain on a warm late fall day ? The 9-1 was during a warm misty/light rain day on Nov 7th of last year. The 8-1 was also during a heavily overcast light rainy day on Oct 25th of last year The 8-3 was caught under similar conditions on the 26th of Oct last year. The best part is all 3 of those fish were caught off of the same exact spot with virtually identical casts. 1 Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 What water temps are you seeing that time of year up there? Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 What water temps are you seeing that time of year up there? I have the temps written down in my fishing log. I am at work right now and don't have the fishing log. As I recall the water temp was 48-50 degrees the end Oct. Nov 7th it was 44-46 degrees. Nov 17th the next time I was able to go back to that spot... Fish were still there. Got a 6-4, 5-12, 5-0 that day dodging icebergs. Had to break through 200 yards of ice. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 7.9 if I remember. I have yet to break that that I know of. I've caught fish up around there but I did not have a scale so I dont know if I broke it or not for sure. I threw them all back. I have had a reproduction done of the fish above. Quote

Hopefully the fishing this fall will be as good as it was last year. I got my rain boots when I went to Alaska to work at a remote fish hatchery. The duct tape makes that one boot look pretty special but it doesn't leak and probably never will. The boots are Alaskan extra tuffs. Very good boots except that one I have on right foot needs a little duct tape. I plan to be on lunker this fall. Taking 22 days off between now and Nov. I am really trying my best to catch a double digit bass in Maine where the record is 11-10. I know some lakes that have the potential to beat the record and am going to fish them all a lot this fall. However, I found out that they basically score your catches based on some equation that takes the state record into account. fishing from GA basically always has you handicapped since you're going against the biggest LM number in the books.... there again a 11 pound maine bass probably looks about like a 20 pound Georgia bass! really though, best of luck, i hope to read the "new state record in maine" post before too long... Super User AK-Jax86 Posted September 24, 2014 Super User Posted September 24, 2014 8lbs 1oz Caught on a LH LUNKER frog RELEASED... (With some many good replica makers out there all trophy fish should be released... Just remember to take good pics and get accurate measurements) only way I would keep a trophy fish is if it died on me while trying to release it (I'm sure others feel this way) 1 Quote
BassObsessed Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 11lbs caught in the Orlando area while on vacation in March. Released to be caught again . I agree on the releasing and just getting a replica instead. 2 Quote
Djf3864 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I just started fishing so my best has only been about a 3lber. On a jig in mid-morning. I release everything back, don't want to reduce the population at all. Get them back in the water to grow some more for next year. 1 Quote
Super User senile1 Posted September 25, 2014 Super User Posted September 25, 2014 My personal best currently sits at 7 lbs 5 oz. She was 23.5 inches, and was pretty thin in the girth department. She was caught in August, 2008, and was released as are all of my big bass. I've caught a few 5's and 6's since then but nothing close to 7. It seems almost every year starting in Spring I have a big network project at work and I don't get to fish the prespawn/spawn period very much. 1 Quote
