When drop shotting 6 or 8 lb flouro should I be using a spinning rod or baitcaster.. and why ?

Spinning, I won't throw line that light on a baitcaster for reason like the line digging in and its harder to manage...

I will use 30lb braid though and that's 8lb diameter I believe...

EDIT: it is all preference though, like Raul said use what your comfortable with....

You can use either.  But most would probably use spinning dropshotting.  Why, personal preference more then anything and spinning lets you use lighter baits.  But I have dropshotted with both on 8lb, 6lb I would stick with spinning.

Spinning or baitcasting?  Hah, I once used a drop shot with the line tied to the end of a long stick.   Worked ok.

I have been using it on my spinning rod. I was told to use it on a baitcaster by another fisherman and wanted to hear everybodies input.

Honestly, between the two, I prefer to use it on a spinning rod.

For me it´s the same thing to fish with one or the other, that´s why I say use with what you feel most comfortable, there´s no "right" or "wrong" in this situation.

I can and do use both, a Shimano 50/51 is a good reel for it... I have thrown 6 to 8 on about every baitcaster I ever owned..... I prefer spinning, but it works both ways.... For Drop rigs, also depends on if it's really light work or 1/2 & up rigs, I assume you refer to light, what weight you using?

Usually 1/8 to 1/4 ounce

Agreed, no right or wrong way.

Yea, I think you use spinning, I like spinning gear,

That would be a better fit with 1/8 and 3/16 even a1/16 oz. drop rigs....
