Super User smalljaw67 Posted August 30, 2014 Super User Posted August 30, 2014 I really like the Xcalibur one knockers but I also like the Rapala Clackin' Rap and the new Rippin Rap. There are days I really like the old school Rat-L-Trap and if I need to go slow but still make noise I reach for the Cotton Cordell Super Spot. I don't really have a favorite as I found that out of all the brands there are times when one will really do well while others not so much. As I said, Super Spots if I need to go slow as they work better as slower speeds than the others but there are times a one knocker is just the ticket so my favorite you can say is all of them as they all work and some better than others under certain conditions. 1 Quote
FSUMF333 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Cotton Cordell super spot in the citrus shad color always catch a few on it. Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 30, 2014 Super User Posted August 30, 2014 I have Rat LTraps, Rattlin Raps, Cordell Spots, Strike King Diamond Shad, Bobmer Rattlin RRR, Bayou Boogies, Heddon Sonics. In my experience you want to have different brands, all sound different, all catch fish but there are days one work better than others. 1 Quote

TheSmilingSwordsman Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Cotton Cordell Super Spots - Inexpensive and effective. RatLTrap - does anyone dislike these? Xcalibur - Good colors with a great finish and quality hooks straight from the box. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted August 30, 2014 Super User Posted August 30, 2014 I am partial to the Strike King Red Eye Shads. I like all three sizes, and both the rattling and silent versions. Chili craw, albino craw, and jap. shad are my best producing colors. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted August 30, 2014 Super User Posted August 30, 2014 I've got a bunch of them - different brands. The one that gets thrown the most is an older Berkley Frenzy in a thread fin shad color. I like how it is shiny. I like its profile while it is running - more horizontal. Spots and Rattle Traps tend to run more nose down for me. I've got a few of the Red Eye Shads, but I don't think that they are any better than the Frenzy. I've only got a few Frenzy baits left. Once I lose those, (hopefully never) I'll probably throw the Red eye shad more. Quote
Stingray23 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I have a lot of lipless cranks but my top 3 are the original Rat'L'trap, SK red eye shad, and Xcalibur Xr50 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted August 30, 2014 Super User Posted August 30, 2014 I'm going to give the Duo Realis lipless baits a go this fall and winter. My favorites are the XCalibur XR50's and XRK50's, SK Redeye Shad and Lucky Craft LVR D7's. Quote

5fishlimit Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 In my experience you want to have different brands, all sound different, all catch fish but there are days one work better than others. I completely agree with you, Raul. I used to think that rattle trap type baits were all one in the same. I was proven wrong in a club tournament 2 years ago. I was throwing one of my Rat-L-Trap brands and not getting a bite. The boater I was with threw me an extra one of his X caliber xr50 (out of pity) and I started bringing them in. I now have a wide variety of brands, sizes, and colors at my disposal. Quote
5fishlimit Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I'm going to give the Duo Realis lipless baits a go this fall and winter I got one of these in the gold black color through the flea market from another member, and was floored by how well it worked. Nice little bait even with the rather steep price. You won't be disappointed! 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted September 1, 2014 Super User Posted September 1, 2014 I got one of these in the gold black color through the flea market from another member, and was floored by how well it worked. Nice little bait even with the rather steep price. You won't be disappointed! I've got 5 or 6 of their other baits that I've been using this summer. I've been really impressed with all the baits I've used so far. The finishes are great, the hooks are great and the baits have all caught fish. I don't mind paying a little more for a really good bait and I think these are. I hope they come out with more lipped crankbaits soon. Quote
richienyc Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Xcalibur one knockers are awesome. Ridiculously durable paint finish, great colors, great hooks out of the box (If i remember correctly, i just always replace mine), casts like a bullet and a killer especially in colder water. They have a really unique sound to them because they only have one rattle. I would highly recommend them if you want to try out a lipless crank. Quote
Ginosocalbass Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 anyone ever use any of the Sebile stuff? The Flat Shadd? or any of the new Lipless Seeker and Vibe Quote
