Bought a cheap daiwa dcast combo a couple months ago as an extra setup just wanted to carry 5. I have been really surprised as to how well it has performed stacked against MUCH more expensive setups. Probably my second favorite behind my quantum smoke. I like it a lot better than my bps collection. Just thought I'd share. I'm always skeptical when I go cheap but this was a pleasant surprise.

It is a nice looking combo.  Glad it worked out for you.  Where did you find it?  Reel holds more line than most.

Most of the cheap reels will perform pretty well, what separate better ones is the longevity, that cheap reel may perform well now and it may do well for a few season if you don't go out but once a month. If you fish that reel for an hour or 2 twice a week it will last one season, what happens to them is either the gears begin to get out of alignment if you are catching a decent amount of quality size fish, or the bearings will begin to fail. I hate saying that too you but I've watched this happen to friends of mine, and I was with a friend when he had his Shimano Caenan out and a hard hook set with heavy braid was enough to make it grind on retrieve but it depends on how you use it, these are made for casual anglers and aren't meant to be fished for 4 to 5 hours at a short but maybe you'll get one that holds up, good luck.
