Jraut98 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I'm thinking about getting an ugly stik, because I heard they are very durable and nice for the money. I live in the Chesapeake bay and will be using as a rod for everything including stripers, perch, and bass. What kind of spinning ugly stik should I get? What power and action should I get? And what kind if reel should I get? Also what size reel? Quote
georgeyew Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 If you are going toward the Ugly Stik, check out the Ugly Stik Lite. They are lighter and stiffer than the regular ones and just as tough. You can get them at Walmart for less than $40. 2 Quote
einscodek Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 power and action depends on what lures youll be fishin i'd expect the new uglies would bend nealy all the way round like the ole ones.. Quote
kikstand454 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Ugly stick graphite lite with the cork handles. Only way to go. Great rods! 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 27, 2014 Super User Posted August 27, 2014 If it's one rod I see used every day it's an ugly stick both new models as well ones 20 years old. They cast exceptionally well and I've seen some good sized fished landed on them. Penn and Ugly Stick, rule the roost down here. 2 Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 27, 2014 Super User Posted August 27, 2014 They are good cheap rods for throwing crankbaits with spinning gear. Make great trolling and catfish rods too. Quote
